CONTROL SYSTEM FOR MACRO ADJUSTMENT OF A POLYMERIC MELT FORMING SLOT TYPE DIE
A system for adjusting a gap in a slot die for producing a polymeric web. The system includes a slot die that has a polymer reservoir that extends between a polymer inlet and a melt outlet. The melt outlet has a first edge and a second edge that each extend longitudinally along the melt outlet. The second edge is opposite the first edge. A plurality of actuators move the second edge along a plurality of positions along a length of the second edge. The first edge is spaced apart from the second edge by a gap that has an adjustable profile. A pressure sensor communicates with the reservoir and measures the pressure of the polymer in the reservoir. A control unit with an algorithm correlates the profile of the gap to the pressure in the reservoir. The algorithm is configured to generate control signals to cause the profile of the gap to be uniform.
Apparatus And Method For Providing Marks On Extruded Films
The invention relates to an apparatus for providing marks on extruded films, in particular on stretched films, which are exiting an extrusion lip of a film extruder and a respective method. The apparatus comprises at least one nozzle means for directing a gas stream, preferably an air stream to a surface of the film exiting the extrusion lip of the film extruder, wherein the nozzle means are configured and arranged in such a manner that the gas stream locally causes a cooling of the extruded film to create a local mark.
Method and apparatus for calibration of blown-film extrusion apparatus
A method comprises the steps of continuously measuring, proximal a tube extrusion die, a diameter of tubing extruded by the die, to produce a plurality of die-measurement or layflat samples; and continuously measuring, downstream of the tube extrusion die and proximal an accumulation point of flattened tubing, a width of the flattened tubing, to produce a plurality of flat-width samples. A slope value is calculated over a selected interval of the layflat samples and the flat-width samples to determine the stability of the diameter of the tubing and the width of the flattened tubing. A y-intercept value is calculated over the selected interval of the layflat samples and the flat-width samples to determine a forecast trend of the diameter of the tubing and the width of the flattened tubing. When the slope values, y-intercept values, and variances are within selected parameters indicative of a stable operation of the tube extrusion die and the accumulation of flattened tubing, the tube extrusion die is calibrated to produce a selected width of flattened tubing.

RESIN-FILM MANUFACTURING APPARATUS AND ITS CONTROL METHOD
In a resin-film manufacturing apparatus of an embodiment, when a lip gap control is started, a difference between a state of a target heat bolt (THB) at a start of current control and a state of each of all the heat bolts at a start of last control is obtained, when the difference between the states of THB at the starts of the current and last control is a smallest one, a learning result of THB is set as an initial value of a control condition for THB, and when the difference between the states of THB is not the smallest one, either one of a learning result of the heat bolt of which the difference between the states is smaller than the difference between the states of THB and the learning result of THB is set as the initial value of the control condition for THB.
