The present invention refers to an injection molding nozzle for introducing a molten plastic to a mold cavity (15) of an injection molding tool via a slot gate (2, 2, 3). The injection molding nozzle includes a nozzle core (2, 3, 3) having an elongate edge (3B) and is received in an opening (1A, 1) in a housing (1, 1). A portion of the nozzle core (2, 3, 3) is spaced apart from the housing (1, 1) so as to define a nozzle flow channel that is in fluid communication between a source of the molten plastic and the slot gate (2, 2, 3), and at least a downstream portion of the nozzle flow channel that is between the housing (1, 1) and the nozzle core (2, 3, 3) surrounds the nozzle core (2, 3, 3) on all sides.

A hot runner injection molding apparatus includes a hot runner nozzle and a first heater coupled to the nozzle body of the nozzle. A separate mold gate insert surrounds a nozzle tip area of the nozzle. The mold gate insert is heated by a second heater that is separate and independent from the nozzle body heater. The temperature generated by the first and second heaters is measured by a first thermocouple and a second thermocouple, respectively. A controller is used to adjust at any time the temperature of the first and second heaters independently. The second heater is used to either i) melt, and thus enable a faster removal of, a colder molten material accumulated around the nozzle tip during a color change procedure or ii) to reduce or increase the temperature of the nozzle tip differently from one nozzle to the next.

The nozzle has a nozzle channel in fluid communication between the manifold channel and the mold cavity. A valve pin seal is located at the upstream end of the nozzle, and a valve pin that is connected to an actuator extends through the manifold and nozzle is slidably received in the valve pin seal. The hot runner system further includes a thermal bridge that is in conductive thermal communication with the valve pin seal and a cooled one of the plurality of mold plates.

The molten material conduit device includes a manifold-sealed interface effector for sealing against the manifold, and a back plate engager for engaging the back plate that secures the molten material conduit device to the manifold. The manifold, the molten material conduit device and the back plate are cooperatively configured such that a discharge end of the conduit device is sandwiched between the manifold and the back plate and such that the discharge opening is disposed in alignment with the molten material-receiver.

In a method and an injection-molding nozzle for producing injection-molded parts from plastic with an injection mold, the plastic melt in the form of at least one ribbon-like strand of melt is injected through a nozzle slit into a cavity of the injection mold before the injection-molded part is demolded once the plastic melt has solidified. The plastic melt is exposed to heat in the region of the sprue during solidifying in the cavity and the sprue is torn off during demolding of the injection-molded part along the nozzle slit in the region of the sprue as a result of the temperature gradient between the solidified injection-molded part and the plastic melt.
