A method of making a worm gear. The method includes forming a gear blank having a plurality of individual lugs formed about an outer circumferential edge of said blank to facilitate a uniform flow of a material around said plurality of individual lugs. The method also includes molding said material around said plurality of individual lugs to form a ring.

To achieve universal welding of thermoplastic workpiece parts with simple equipment, an infrared light transmission welding method is disclosed in which simple polychromatic, incoherent infrared light is generated by a simple infrared light source and is directed through a first workpiece part to a weld point for the purposes of connection to a second workpiece part. In particular, the infrared light is directed through a transparent bracing element.

Adjacent lugs of said first plurality of individual lugs have a first circumferential spacing therebetween.
Method for manufacturing a bonded body of galvanized steel sheet and adherend
There is provided a technique to strongly integrate a galvanized steel sheet and a resin molded article. A hot-dip galvanized steel sheet is immersed in an aqueous solution for aluminum degreasing to form a specific roughness on the surface. The surface is covered with convex protrusions having a diameter of about 100 nm, and a chromate treatment layer appears in the surface. A resin composition comprising 70 to 97 wt % of polyphenylene sulfide and 3 to 30 wt % of a polyolefin resin is injected onto the surface. The resin composition penetrates into ultra-fine irregularities and is cured in that state, and thereby a composite in which the galvanized steel sheet and the resin molded article are strongly integrated can be obtained. The shear rupture strength of the composite is extremely high.

Polypropylene-based sheet materials and methods for making the same
Polypropylene-based sheet materials such as a polypropylene-based foam sheet material and a multilayered sheet material including the polypropylene-based foam as a layer are disclosed. The multilayered sheet material may include the polypropylene-based foam layer sandwiched between and adhered to outer polypropylene-based polymer films to provide a multilayered sheet material. The polypropylene-based foam sheet and multilayered sheet material including the polypropylene-based foam as a layer may be used in the production of printed products such as sign panels.
Multi-mandrel braiding process
A system for forming multiple braided preform segments includes a mandrel assembly disposed along a mandrel axis, a radial braider for winding fibers onto the mandrel assembly to form a continuous braided article, an applicator for applying a polymer binder to the braided article while mounted on the mandrel assembly, and a debulking tool for debulking the braided article while mounted on the mandrel assembly. The mandrel assembly includes a lead-in extension defining a first end, an end extension defining a second end, and a plurality of mandrels removably connected to a plurality of transition pieces and disposed axially between the lead-in extension and the end extension.
