COMPLIANT ANVIL
An anvil is configured to operatively engage with a tooling agent. The anvil includes an outer surface, an opposing surface opposite the outer surface and an inner surface. One or more spring elements are disposed between the opposing surface and the inner surface. The springs provide a compliance to the anvil.
Mandrel wheel for producing packages
A mandrel wheel for producing packages is illustrated and described, including: a mandrel wheel shaft having a central axis, a plurality of mandrels attached to the mandrel wheel shaft, an inflow for a coolant and an outflow for the coolant. The mandrels form at least one mandrel group, the mandrels of which are arranged in a plane perpendicular to the central axis of the mandrel wheel shaft. Each mandrel has a hollow space for the coolant, which is connected to an inlet and to an outlet separate from it. At least one distribution element is provided, which connects all inlets of a mandrel group to the inflow and which connects all outlets of the same mandrel group to the outflow, so that the mandrels can be cooled more effectively.
Unit for forming absorbent sanitary articles and method for making absorbent sanitary articles
A unit for forming absorbent sanitary articles including a drum rotatable about its axis of rotation and having a circumferential peripheral surface movable along a feed direction, first feeding means for feeding a succession of pairs of panels of material facing the circumferential peripheral surface and configured to position each pair in such a way that the respective two panels are facing each other and transversely aligned with the feed direction and second feeding means for feeding a continuous web of material suitable for defining at least part of the main body of an absorbent sanitary article, and configured to position the web on the circumferential peripheral surface of the drum in such a way that each panel projects partly sideways from the web. The unit comprises an ultrasonic sealing station located along the circumferential peripheral surface of the drum, in a zone located operatively downstream of the second feeding means, and configured to attach each panel of the pair to the web at at least one plurality of sealing points arranged in succession along the feed direction.
SYSTEM FOR PRODUCING INFLATED WEBS
A system for active alignment of an inflatable web with respect to an inflation nozzle as the web is dispensed from a roll for serial inflation by the inflation nozzle, the inflatable web including top and bottom sheets sealed together by transverse seals to define a series of inflatable chambers having an opening between the terminal ends of the transverse seals and proximate a longitudinal edge of the web for receiving inflation fluid from the nozzle, the system comprising: a spool adapted to support the roll so that the roll rotates about the spool as the inflatable web is withdrawn from the roll; an actuator arranged to adjust the position of the roll along the length of the spool; an inflation nozzle adapted to provide inflation fluid into the openings of the inflatable chambers as the web travels along a path of travel past the inflation nozzle; a tracking sensor comprising: a sensor arm pivotally mounted at a pivot point at a given location relative the inflation nozzle, the sensor arm having a contact portion, the sensor arm adapted to pivot on the pivot point as the terminal ends of the transverse seals of the web contact the contact portion of the sensor arm; and an analogue sensor adapted to detect the movement of the sensor arm and to generate an analogue signal varying in relation to the movement of the sensor arm; and a controller operative to receive the analogue signal and based on the analogue signal to send output to the actuator to adjust the position of the roll on the spool to maintain the transverse position of the web within a predetermined range.
Compliant anvil
An anvil roll is configured to operatively engage with a tooling agent. The anvil includes an outer surface, an opposing surface opposite the outer surface and an inner surface. One or more spring elements are disposed between the opposing surface and the inner surface. The springs provide a compliance to the anvil.
Apparatus and Method for Making Inflated Articles
A sealing device generally includes a rotatable support cylinder having an outer, circumferential surface and a heating element disposed about such surface and secured thereto such that the heating element rotates therewith. The heating element is coiled about the outer surface of the cylinder in the form of an overlapping helical pattern. Juxtaposed film plies may be sealed together by bringing the sealing device into rotational contact with the juxtaposed film plies and heating the heating element to a temperature sufficient to cause the film plies to seal together.
