INTRAOCULAR LENS WITH ELASTIC MASK
Intraocular implants and methods of making intraocular implants are provided. The intraocular implant can include a lens body having a lens material and a mask having a mask material. The lens body can be secured to the mask. The mask material can include a modulus of elasticity that is greater than or equal to a modulus of elasticity of the lens material.
Joining body
The present invention is provided with: an insulation holder formed of a thermoplastic resin material and having a first opening; a wire connection ring formed of a thermoplastic resin material and having a second opening; and a joining component inserted astride in the first opening and the second opening, the joining component being formed of a metal material having a higher melting point than those of the thermoplastic resin materials, the joining component having a higher stiffness than those of the insulation holder and the wire connection ring, wherein a welded part is formed by welding in at least a part of an area where each of the insulation holder and the wire connection ring has contact with the joining component.
Method and system for manufacturing composite structures using a magnesium bladder
A composite manufacturing system and method are provided. The composite manufacturing system comprises a press and a bladder. The press has an upper portion having a desired shape for a composite structure and a lower portion configured to receive layers of composite material. The bladder is associated with the upper portion of the press and is configured to reach a superplastic state when heated such that the bladder forms to the composite structure by applying heat and pressure to the layers of composite material. The bladder cools without appreciable shrinkage, applying a desired amount of pressure to the composite structure during the entire cooling cycle. Once one composite structure is formed using the bladder, the bladder may be reused to form similar structures.
INDUCTION WELD JOINT FOR AN ENCLOSURE
The present disclosure relates to a housing having an interior and an exterior. The housing includes a first housing piece and a second housing piece that are coupled together by a joint. The joint includes a bonding material and the joint is configured such that when the bonding material is pressurized during formation of the joint the bonding material is predisposed to move toward the interior of the housing as compared to the exterior of the housing.
Systems and methods for manufacturing header subassembly
The present disclosure provides systems and methods for assembling a subassembly for use in manufacturing an implantable device header. A method includes placing a first split web into a top platen, placing a second split web into a bottom platen, placing a conductor assembly and an antenna assembly in the bottom platen on top of the second split web, compressing the top and bottom platens together, heating the top and bottom platens until a predetermined temperature and a predetermined pressure are reached, such that first split web is fused to the second split web to form the subassembly, separating the top and bottom platens, and removing the formed subassembly.
AIRCRAFT CONTROL SURFACE HAVING VARIABLE HEIGHT CORRUGATED CORE
A control surface for an aircraft may comprise an outer skin and a core coupled to the outer skin. The core may include a plurality of corrugations. A height of the core may decrease in a direction extending from a leading edge of the control surface to a trailing edge of the control surface.
SYSTEM AND METHODS FOR THERMOFORMING ARTICLES
Systems and processes for thermoforming an article and for preparing an article for thermoforming are disclosed. The system for thermoforming can include one or more heating stations and a cooling station. The system for thermoforming can further include an article movement mechanism that can couple to an article and rotate the article inside a heating chamber, inside a cooling chamber, or both. The system for preparing an article for thermoforming can include a vessel that comprises a port, and a negative pressure generation system coupled to the port. The system for preparing an article for thermoforming can further include a compression material that forms an interior portion for receiving an article. The negative pressure generation system can cause the compression material to expand to allow for insertion of the article into the interior portion of the compression material.
Expansion apparatus, shaping system, and manufacturing method of shaped object
An expansion apparatus includes: a first expander for irradiating with electromagnetic waves emitted from a lamp a thermal conversion layer for conversion of the electromagnetic waves to heat, to cause at least a portion of a thermal expansion layer to expand, the thermal conversion layer being laminated to a molding sheet including a base and the thermal expansion layer laminated to a first main surface of the base; and a second expander for causing expansion of a region (C) of the thermal expansion layer that is smaller in size than a region (B) of the thermal expansion layer expanded by the first expander.
METHOD AND TOOL FOR MANUFACTURING A QUADRANGULAR SHELL MADE OF COMPOSITE MATERIAL
A method for manufacturing a quadrangular shell having five faces and non-developable trihedral connectors between the faces. Plies having continuous fibers are cut to cover the five faces of the shell outside of the trihedral connector zones. Four connector components consolidated in the shape of the trihedral connectors are obtained. Each of the components includes an integration zone between the plies. Plies are positioned and laid up. The four consolidated components are inserted in the trihedral connection zones by inserting the integration zones between two plies to form an assembly obtain a preform. The preform is placed in a tool and the consolidation of the stack of fibrous plies is performed by subjecting the assembly to a predetermined pressure/temperature cycle.
Duct stringer with bulkhead
A duct stringer has duct walls providing a duct with a closed cross-section; and a bulkhead in the duct. The duct is adapted to transport fluid, and the bulkhead is adapted to block the flow of fluid along the duct. The bulkhead is adhered to the duct walls by one or more co-cured or co-bonded joints. The bulkhead includes a pair of bulkhead parts, each with a web and one or more flanges. The duct stringer is manufactured by positioning the mandrels end-to-end with the bulkhead parts back-to-back between them; wrapping or laying-up the duct walls around the bulkhead parts and the mandrels; co-curing or co-bonding the flanges of the bulkhead parts to the duct walls; and after the bulkhead has been adhered to the duct walls, removing the mandrels from opposite ends of the duct.
