CYLINDRICAL BODY, CONTAINER, AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING CONTAINER
A body portion (120A) that is a cylindrical body has one end portion, such as a lower end portion or the body portion (120A) or a first part (126) of a body portion (120), that is folded back inwardly. The body portion (120A) has at least one planar-shaped flat section, such as a second flat section (122) or a fourth flat section (124). A notch, such as a notch (K1) or a notch (K2), is provided at one end, such as a lower end, of the flat section. The one end portion includes a portion provided with the notch, such as by providing the notch (K1) or (K2) at a lower end of the lower end portion of the body portion (120A) or at a distal end of the first part (126A) of the body portion (120).
PAPER-BASED COMPOSITE CONTAINER FOR OFF-GASSING PRODUCTS, AND METHOD FOR MAKING SAME
A substantially paper-based composite container for an off-gassing product includes a paperboard can body having a substantially gas-impervious liner attached to an inner surface thereof, and a pair of substantially paper-based end closures attached to the opposite ends of the can body, each end closure defining a generally cylindrical sealing panel in contact with an inner surface of the can body. Heat-sealable materials are disposed on opposing surfaces of the sealing panel and can body. The sealing panels of the end closures are attached to the can body by heat seals. The heat seal for at least one of the end closures is discontinuous such that at least one vent channel extends through the heat seal so as to establish fluid communication between an interior of the composite container and the environment outside the composite container. The at least one vent channel is operable to vent excess gas pressure from the interior of the container.

METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR FORMING AND SEALING A CONTAINER HAVING CENTERING TABS
A machine for forming and sealing a top of a container is provided. The machine includes a conveyor configured to transport the container through the machine, a forming section including at least one bullet arm configured to fold a trailing centering tab of the container, and a compression section downstream from the forming section and including a compression device configured to fold a leading centering tab of the container.

Device and Method for Compressing Packaging Sleeves
A device for compressing packaging sleeves includes at least two movably supported pressure bars for compressing the packaging sleeve, and at least one drive for moving the pressure bars. The pressure bars are supported in such a way that between the pressure bars a gap is created, the longitudinal direction of which corresponds to a transport direction of the packaging sleeve. The pressure bars are supported in such a way that the distance between the pressure bars is variable. The pressure bars are supported in such a way that the pressure bars are movable in the longitudinal direction of the gap. Also described is a corresponding method for compressing packaging sleeves.

Systems and methods for the application and sealing of end closures on containers
The invention is directed to a system and method for sealing a closure to a container comprising a die assembly, a mandrel assembly, and a gas evacuation assembly. The mandrel assembly comprises an outer mandrel and an inner mandrel. The outer mandrel is configured to vertically translate and constrain a closure in position. The gas evacuation assembly, which comprises at least one hollow channel within the die and one or more channel openings into the interior of the die, suctions gas from the interior of an aligned container when the closure is constrained in position. The inner mandrel translates vertically to insert the closure into the container and a sealing member seals the closure in place.
