PRINTING PLATE PRESSURE ADJUSTMENT SYSTEM AND CAN DECORATOR EMPLOYING SAME
A printing plate pressure adjustment system for a can decorator including a printing plate cylinder assembly having a printing plate cylinder drive shaft, and a blanket wheel. The system includes an actuator, a control system structured to control operation of the actuator to adjust a pressure between the printing plate cylinder assembly and the blanket wheel, an eccentric bushing disposed around the printing plate cylinder drive shaft, wherein rotation of the eccentric bushing causes the printing plate cylinder to move toward or away from the blanket wheel, and a drive mechanism coupled between the actuator and the eccentric bushing, wherein operation of the actuator causes the drive mechanism to rotate the eccentric bushing.
Device for printing on hollow bodies
A device for printing on hollow bodies comprises a mandrel wheel and a segment wheel. The mandrel wheel has its own motor separate from a motor of the segment wheel. In association with the segment wheel, along a circumferential line thereof, a plurality of plate cylinders are positioned or at least are positionable radially against this segment wheel. An inking unit is associated with each plate cylinder. Each plate cylinder, and a roller arranged in the associated inking unit, are each driven in rotation independently by a motor. The motor of the mandrel wheel and the motor of the segment wheel and the motor of the relevant plate cylinder and the motor of the roller arranged in the associated inking unit are connected to one another for data exchange by a common data bus. The relevant motors each have their own drive controller and their own power part connected to the data bus. Control data for the relevant motors, transported via the data bus, form a virtual guide axis.

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PRINTING ON CYLINDRICAL OBJECTS
An apparatus is disclosed for printing images on generally cylindrical objects. The apparatus comprises an impression station that includes a movable imaging surface for bearing an ink image; and a transport mechanism for advancing the objects through the impression station, comprising a drive member rotatably connected to a plurality of rotatable mandrels, each for mounting a respective one of the objects, the transport mechanism being configured to cause each object to rotate during passage through the impression station such that, within a nip region of the impression station, the surface of the object makes rolling contact with the imaging surface, thereby causing the ink image to be impressed on the object. An impression platen is provided opposite the imaging surface within the nip region, the impression platen being configured to apply a force, directly or indirectly, to the objects to ensure rolling contact between the objects and the imaging surface.

Rotating handling carousel having collision avoidance control
A rotating handling carousel includes a transfer device arranged on the outer circumference of the handling carousel. The transfer device includes a carry-along element which receives and transports an article and a guide element. The guide element is arranged in such a way that the article transported by the carry-along element is guided into or out of a handling station, for which the guide element extends into an area of the handling station in such a way that the guide element does not collide with the handling device at the transfer position. A sensor detects whether a handling device or the article are not in the transfer position, and/or whether the article is located in the handling station at all, and, after such a determination, issues a collision signal based on a kind of the transfer device.
INK REPLENISHING SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR CAN DECORATOR
An ink replenishment system for a can decorator having a plurality of ink fountains corresponding to a plurality of ink station assemblies includes a robotic arm structured to pick up ink from a selected one of a plurality of ink container and to place the picked up ink into a selected one of the plurality of ink fountains, and a controller structured to control operations of the robotic arm.
PRINTING MACHINE AND METHOD OF MONITORING STATE THEREOF
