GRAVURE PRINTING METHOD

Provided is a gravure printing method by which high printing density and excellent highlight suitability are obtained, even if a gravure plate having high resolution and reduced thickness is used. The gravure printing method comprises: using an aqueous ink having a Zahn cup #3 viscosity at 20? C. of 11.0 seconds or more and 20.0 seconds or less, and having an evaporation rate of 30 mass % or less in a drying test, the drying test involving drying 1 g of the ink at a temperature of 40? C. and an air flow of 1,400 L/min for 30 minutes; and transferring 1 ml/m.sup.2 or more and 7 ml/m.sup.2 or less of the ink onto a printing medium.

A printing apparatus applies ink to a surface of a printing plate in the shape of a predetermined pattern and then transfers the ink to a substrate. The printing apparatus includes: an image recording section that applies the ink to the surface of the printing plate; a plate surface observation unit that acquires information about the surface of the printing plate; a storage section that stores information about a reference shape serving as a reference of the surface of the printing plate; and a determination section that compares the information about the reference shape stored in the storage section with the information about the surface of the printing plate, which is obtained by the plate surface observation unit, and determines whether or not the surface of the printing plate to which the ink has been applied is present in a predetermined range of the reference shape.

Intaglio printing press

There is described an intaglio printing press (1; 1*) comprising a plate cylinder (8) carrying one or more intaglio printing plates, the plate cylinder (8) receiving ink from an inking system (9, 20, 23; 20*, 23*) having a plurality of chablon cylinders (23; 23*) transferring ink directly or indirectly onto the plate cylinder (8), the intaglio printing press (1; 1*) comprising an adjustment system acting on the chablon cylinders (23; 23*) in order to compensate elongation of the one or more intaglio printing plates. The adjustment system comprises, for each chablon cylinder (23; 23*), an adjustable drive unit, which adjustable drive unit (25) is interposed between the chablon cylinder (23; 23*) acting as a rotating output body of the adjustable drive unit (25) and a driving gear (100) acting as a rotating input body of the adjustable drive unit (25). The adjustable drive unit (25) is designed to allow selected adjustment of a rotational speed of the chablon cylinder (23; 23*) with respect to a rotational speed of the driving gear (100). In an adjusting state of the adjustable drive unit (25), driving into rotation of the chablon cylinder (23; 23*) is adjusted over each revolution of the chablon cylinder (23; 23*) by means of an adjustment motor (300) of the adjustable drive unit (25). In a non-adjusting state of the adjustable drive unit (25), the adjustment motor (300) is inoperative and driving into rotation of the chablon cylinder (23; 23*) is performed exclusively mechanically via the adjustable drive unit (25), the chablon cylinder (23; 23*) rotating at a same rotational speed as the driving gear (100).

Ink feed device comprising an ink blade

An ink feed device includes an ink blade, a mounting device for the precise mounting of an ink blade and a system for feeding and dosing printing ink. The system includes an ink feed device and a mounting device. A method is provided for renewing a dosing edge of an ink blade, which edge is used to dose the ink. A method for operating an ink feed device, and including an ink blade, is also provided.

Intaglio printing press

There is described an intaglio printing press (1; 1*) comprising an intaglio cylinder (8) and an ink wiping system (10) with a rotating wiping roller assembly (11) contacting a circumference of the intaglio cylinder (8) for wiping excess ink from the surface of the intaglio cylinder (8), a rotational speed of the wiping cylinder being adjustable with respect to a rotational speed of the intaglio cylinder (8). The intaglio printing press (1; 1*) comprises an adjustable drive unit (25), which adjustable drive unit (25) is interposed between the wiping roller assembly (11) acting as a rotating output body of the adjustable drive unit (25) and a driving gear (100) coupled to the intaglio cylinder (8) and acting as a rotating input body of the adjustable drive unit (25). The adjustable drive unit (25) is designed to allow selected adjustment of a rotational speed of the wiping roller assembly (11) with respect to a rotational speed of the driving gear (100). In an adjusting state of the adjustable drive unit (25), driving into rotation of the wiping roller assembly (11) is adjusted by means of an adjustment motor (700) of the adjustable drive unit (25). In a non-adjusting state of the adjustable drive unit (25), the adjustment motor (700) is inoperative and driving into rotation of the wiping roller assembly (11) is performed exclusively mechanically via the adjustable drive unit (25), the wiping roller assembly (11) rotating at a defined rotational speed with respect to the rotational speed of the intaglio cylinder (8).

Device, method, and assembly for loading nozzles with fluid

A device (3000) for loading fluid into nozzle(s) of a nozzle-bearing body (3070) includes a first member (3010), having a first surface (3016), and a second member (3020) protruding from the first member (3010). The second member (3020) has second and third surfaces (3028, 3026), the second surface (3028) extending from the first surface (3016) at an angle. The first surface (3016) substantially complements the shape of the nozzle-bearing body's surface (3070). The device (3000) has a recess (3023) defined therein at least in part by the first and second surfaces (3016, 3028). When the device (3000) is placed into a working configuration with the nozzle-bearing body (3070), a tangent to the third surface (3026), in a region of the third surface (3026) proximate to where the second surface (3028) meets the third surface (3026), is substantially parallel to a tangent to the first surface (3016), in a region of the first surface (3016) where the first surface (3016) meets the second surface (3028), wherein, the recess (3023) forms a pocket for receiving the fluid.
