TECHNIQUE FOR MARKING A PROLATE OBJECT

A printing system includes: a printer for outputting a printed product; and a device for providing a marking arranged or arrangeable in a closed circumferential manner around a prolate object. The device includes a mechanical interface and the printer includes a mechanical interface, which are positively and/or by force-locking connected in a mounted state and which release the positive and/or force-locked connection by a planar motion, a partial rotation, and/or a current change to a released state. The device further includes: a material interface for receiving printed material output by the printer in the mounted state of the device, and at least one actuator for arranging the marking on the prolate object in a circumferentially closed manner by the printed product output by the printer or for providing the marking for circumferentially closed arrangement in the mounted state of the device.

A printer in one example includes a thermal printhead with resistive heating elements. A motor is provided in the printer for conveying paper to the thermal printhead. A power supply is provided to supply power to the thermal printhead and the motor. A processor is configured to cause the supply of power to the motor to be paused after the supply of power to the thermal printhead exceeds a power threshold value and then to resume the supply of power to the motor after a predetermined period of time elapses after the pause of the supply of power to the motor.

According to an embodiment, a printer includes a thermal head with a plurality of heaters. A memory device stores utilization information indicating a status or cumulative usage amount of the thermal head. A processor is configured to acquire a measured resistance value for each of the heaters in the plurality of heaters and detect whether the thermal head has been changed since a previous use based on differences in the measured resistance values from reference resistance values. If it is detected that the thermal head has been changed, the processor updates the utilization information in the memory device to indicate the thermal head has been replaced.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR DYNAMIC PRINT HEAD ADJUSTMENT FOR SUBLIMATION INK PRINTING

In an illustrative embodiment, a processor determines an ink coverage for a portion of an image and retrieves one or more input parameters for the portion. The processor may adjust the height of the print head (i.e., the distance between the print head and a paper where the image is to be printed) based upon the ink coverage and the one or more input parameters. In particular, the processor may optimize the height of the print head for image clarity while preventing head strikes. In some embodiments, the processor for may maintain the same height for an image. In other embodiments, the processor may dynamically adjust the height while printing for different portions of the image.

An ink cassette capable of being mounted in a printer includes a supply bobbin, a winding bobbin, a plate member, and at least three engaging portions. The plate member is provided on an end part of the ink cassette on a near side of the ink cassette in a mounting direction of the ink cassette. The at least three engaging portions are provided in the plate member and engage with engaging portions of the printer when the ink cassette is mounted in the printer. In a case where the ink sheet, pulled out from the supply bobbin, and a print sheet are overlaid and pressed against a print head of the printer, ink is transferred from the ink sheet to the print sheet.

A printer for issuing a print medium includes: a rechargeable battery configured to supply power to the printer; a printing part configured to print information on the print medium; a controller configured to determine a number of print media on which the printing part can print with present remaining battery capacity of the battery, based on information related to variation of remaining battery capacity of the battery relative to a number of print media that have been issued.

Ordering of color-forming layers in a direct thermal printing medium

The present invention relates generally to a printing system, and more specifically to an ordering of color-forming layers in a direct thermal printing medium. The present invention provides a direct thermal print medium with an ordering of the color layers that improves the perceived image sharpness and color uniformity of prints.

Apparatus and method

An apparatus includes a generation unit and a multiplexing unit. The generation unit generates image data for recording by a forming apparatus that forms an image on a forming member using a print head that applies energy to the member. The multiplexing unit performs multiplexing processing to generate recording data in which predetermined information to be recognized by a reading apparatus as information different from an image to be recorded on the member is embedded in the image data.
