Method for manufacturing gravure plate
A method for manufacturing a gravure plate includes, setting a certain measurement area on a surface of the gravure plate, finding at least one of a spatial volume that is the total of the volume of a space formed by a plurality of cells located in the measurement area and an average depth obtained by dividing the spatial volume by a surface area of the measurement area, and adjusting, based on a relationship between at least one of the spatial volume and the average depth and an application thickness of a printing material after printing, at least one of the spatial volume and the average depth so as to fall within at least one of a specified value range for the spatial volume and a specified value range for the average depth determined in accordance with a target value range for the application thickness.
INTAGLIO PRINTING PLATE WITH PRESSURE RELIEF FEATURE FOR SECURITY DOCUMENTS AND METHOD FOR MAKING THE SAME
An intaglio printing plate is configured to protect a micro optics, RFID or chip feature of a security document during the process of intaglio printing the security document which applies very high pressure that could otherwise damage the micro optics, RFID or chip feature. A method for making the printing plate is also provided. The printing plate comprises a pressure relief depression located to coincide with the micro optics, RFID or chip feature during printing of a substrate of the security document. The pressure relief depression has a depth between 30-120 microns and shape corresponding to the shape of the micro optics, RFID or chip feature.

Printed matter and method of producing printed matter
Printed matter having a continuous color pattern, such as a high-definition fine printed design pattern. The printed matter has a printed portion on a surface of a printing substrate. The printed portion is formed of an ink and visually recognized as a continuous color pattern. Further, the printed portion is constituted of a combination of a plurality of lines each being formed of an ink and having a line width of 100 μm or less. Of the plurality of lines, two adjacent lines have a spacing there between which is 50 times or less the line width of the line that is the narrower one of the two lines defining the spacing.

Method for producing relief image on a metal base
The invention relates to producing a relief image on a metal base. The present method includes forming a resist pattern on a surface of a base and etching the sections of the metal which are not covered by the resist. In the present method, copper or an alloy thereof is deposited as a resist on a metal base having an electrode potential that is more negative than the electrode potential of copper, and etching is carried out in a solution that dissolves the parts not covered by the resist primarily as a result of a contact exchange reaction between the metal of the base and the copper ions. The invention makes it possible to improve the quality of the resulting image by means of reducing etchback of a metal base via pores of a resist, and to reduce the cost of producing products.
