A machine and a method of manufacturing the machine are provided. The machine comprises a sensor, a plurality of tools and a processor. The sensor is configured to detect a sheet of a bundle of sheets. The bundle of sheets includes at least a first sheet having a first edge and a second sheet having a second edge, and the sheet is any one of the first sheet and the second sheet. The plurality of tools removably is disposed in a tool housing. Each tool of the plurality of tools corresponds to at least an operation of a plurality of operations, and each tool of the plurality of tools is arranged to perform the operation on the sheet. The processor configured to position the sheet and to selectively actuate at least one tool of the plurality of tools to cause performance of at least one operation at a first location on the first sheet and at a second location on the second sheet, and wherein the first location and second location are determined by the processor based on a first input to obliquely aligned the first edge and the second edge upon aligning the first location and second location.

Method for the production of a print job

A method for the production of a print job by sequential or quasi-sequential digital printing includes forming at least one stack including signatures, print sheets and/or individual sheets produced by the digital printing. Components of the stack are transferred at least to a book-related printed product by means of at least one additional processing. The formation of the stack and the components thereof is carried out by means of production-related data or data sets which, by means of at least one workflow system, firstly select a specific sequence of individual book-related printed products made of the stack, and which secondly control a layout of the individual main printed products having same or different thicknesses and/or formats and/or having same or individual contents.

An apparatus for treating a stack of sheets of sheet material includes a means for moving the stack of sheets of sheet material towards a first and second fold roller means. The first and second fold roller means are arranged to assist with folding of the stack of sheets of sheet material. The apparatus also includes a first and a second clamping jaw defining a gap. The first and second clamping jaws are arranged to be movable relative to each other to increase and decrease the gap for selective application of a clamping force to the stack of sheets of sheet material having passed between the first and second fold roller means. The first and second fold roller means are mounted in a manner allowing for an increase and decrease in separation and thus between a stack-guiding configuration and a stack compressing configuration.

A bound collection of leaves having a spine and a method of its manufacture are disclosed. Each leaf of a first plurality of leaves of the bound collection includes a first pattern of tabs by which that leaf is bound. The tabs of the first pattern are distributed along a binding axis of that leaf that is parallel to a spine axis of the spine. Each leaf of a second plurality of leaves of the bound collection includes a second pattern of tabs different than the first pattern by which that leaf is bound. The tabs of the second pattern are distributed along a binding axis of that leaf that is parallel to the spine axis. Each tab of the first pattern and second pattern of tabs extends in a direction orthogonal to the binding axis from within an unbound region to a binding-side edge of that leaf.
