Rim for a Wheel
A non-metallic rim for a wheel which may be used for motorised vehicles. The rim has a barrel, a first flange, a second flange, a first bead seat, a second beat seat and a primary structural component. The primary structural component extends into at least the first flange and the barrel, and the primary structural component is capable of bearing the majority of the radial and/or lateral load that is borne by the rim during usage. Additionally, the rim has at least a portion of the first bead seat spaced apart from the primary structural component and/or has a protective insert in between the outer face of the first flange and the primary structural component.
COMPOSITE WHEEL CONSTRUCTION APPARATUS AND METHOD
A composite wheel structure includes a single continuous fiber reinforcement layer extending axially between inner and outer ends of the wheel structure. The single fiber reinforcement layer is impregnated with different matrix materials at different axial portions of the reinforcement layer to account for specific locations where high strength or high temperature performance is needed, with other portions having different matrix materials where low temperature performance and/or low strength is sufficient. The matrix materials may be provided as separate resin films that are applied side-by-side on the single reinforcement layer, or they may be provided on a single resin film. The matrix materials may be applied to the reinforcement layer in a direct coating process. The reinforcement layer may be prepregged with the matrix materials prior to a wheel layup process, or the reinforcement layer and matrix materials may be consolidated by resin film infusion during the wheel layup process.
Bicycle rim and wheel
A bicycle rim and/or wheel are provided. The bicycle rim and/or wheel includes a single wall formed into the bicycle rim. The wall is formed of composite material having a spoke attachment portion and a tire attachment portion formed therein. The composite material may include at least two different materials, or fibers used as reinforcement material, forming layers of a thickness of the rim.
RESILIENT COMPOSITE STRUCTURAL SUPPORT
A spoke for a wheel attaching an outer tread to a hub, the spoke having a first and second spoke elements joined by a joint body comprised of an elastomer connecting the first spoke element to a second spoke element.
Wheel Made of Fiber-Reinforced Composite Material and Provided with Galvanic Isolation
A wheel for a vehicle, in particular a motorcycle or a motor scooter includes a hub region which has at least some portions made of a fiber-reinforced plastic material. The hub region includes a recess in which an insert for connecting the wheel to a vehicle axle is placed. An isolation element which galvanically isolates the insert from the hub region is arranged between the hub region and the insert.
BICYCLE COMPOSITE CLINCHER RIM AND WHEEL
A rim for a bicycle wheel includes a radially outer tire engaging portion having a first tire retaining portion and a second tire retaining portion spaced apart from the first tire retaining portion. The first tire retaining portion includes a first tire retaining section having a first outer wall and a first tire retaining wall opposite and spaced apart from the first outer wall. The second tire retaining portion includes a second tire retaining section having a second outer wall and a second tire retaining wall opposite and spaced apart from the second outer wall. The radially outer tire engaging portion is made of a composite material. The first outer wall and the first tire retaining wall, and the second outer wall and the second tire retaining wall, respectively, are separated by a material having a lower density than the composite material.
Process for manufacturing composite fiber products
A method for producing a product including a composite fiber part and a second part, wherein the second part includes a carrier part, wherein the carrier part is a replica of a press tool configured to be heated and to apply a pressure, the method including applying, in a non-cured state, the composite fiber part on the carrier part, arranging the carrier part including the composite fiber part on the press tool, curing the composite fiber part on the carrier part, and removing the product from the press tool, wherein after removal from the press tool the composite fiber part and the carrier part constitutes together at least a part of the finished product. Also disclosed is a composite fiber product including a composite fiber part and a second part.
SPOKED BICYCLE WHEEL AND SPOKE ATTACHMENT ELEMENT FOR SUCH A WHEEL
A spoked bicycle wheel having a rim at least partially comprised of a composite material. The rim has at least one spoke attachment chamber with a plurality of spoke attachment holes. The wheel has a plurality of spokes coupled with the rim and a spoke attachment element partially inserted in a respective spoke attachment hole. The wheel includes a holding element that prevents the movement of said spoke attachment element along a radially outer direction. The spoke attachment element has a holding surface configured for abutment against the holding element.
