SATURATED STEERING DETECTION AND OPERATION FOR GUIDED VEHICLE OPERATION
A method for controlling a vehicle comprises identifying a first detected position of a trailer coupler in the sensor data and identifying a trajectory range of a hitch of the vehicle based on a steering angle range of the vehicle. In response to the first detected position being outside the trajectory range, the method may continue by calculating a nearby position within the trajectory range based on the trajectory range. The method further comprises maneuvering the vehicle aligning the hitch with the nearby position.
TRAILER AND VEHICLE COLLISION DETECTION AND RESPONSE DURING AUTOHITCH MANEUVERING
A vehicle system includes a vehicle brake system, an accelerometer mounted on the vehicle, and a controller. The controller receives a first signal from the accelerometer and, during reversing of the vehicle in a longitudinal direction, transmits an actuation signal to the vehicle brake system when the first signal from the accelerometer indicates a deceleration in the longitudinal direction above a predetermined rate within a predetermined time interval.
Compensation for trailer coupler height in automatic hitch operation
A vehicle hitch assistance system includes a controller acquiring position data of a coupler of a trailer and deriving a vehicle path to align a hitch ball of the vehicle with the coupler including compensating for a determined change in the position of the coupler in a driving direction related to a difference between a vertical position of the coupler in the position data and a height of the hitch ball.
Vehicle rear object proximity system using multiple cameras
A vehicle hitch assistance system includes first and second cameras on an exterior of the vehicle and an image processor. The image processor is programmed to identify an object in image data received from the first and second cameras and determine a height and a position of the object using the image data. The system further includes a controller outputting a steering command to a vehicle steering system to selectively guide the vehicle away from or into alignment with the object.
