Roll induced four wheel steering vehicle
The four wheel steering vehicle utilizes a cage system that extends along the longitudinal axis to protect the driver coupled to a center rail chassis. Front and Back independent suspension links extend outward along the lateral axis pivotally connected to the wheel assemblies enabling four wheel independent suspension. A centrally located pivoting shock provides both steering control and suspension attachment for the shock and spring. The vehicle is controlled by the driver using a steering wheel, acceleration pedal, and a brake pedal. The invention provides a feeling of integration with the vehicle as the driver rolls into turns with the vehicle, while minimizing fatigue caused by the continuous resistance to centrifugal cornering forces.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR AN ADJUSTABLE DAMPER
A method for controlling vehicle motion is described. The method includes accessing a set of control signals including a measured vehicle speed value associated with a movement of a vehicle. A control signal associated with user-induced input is also accessed. The method compares the measured vehicle speed value with a predetermined vehicle speed threshold value to achieve a speed value threshold approach status, and then compares the set of values to achieve a user-induced input threshold value approach status. The method monitors a state of a valve within the vehicle suspension damper, and determines a control mode for the vehicle suspension damper. The method also regulates damping forces within the vehicle suspension damper.
Control of real-time damper in a sprung mass system
A method for reshaping an electric drive signal of a real-time damper in a sprung mass system includes detecting a periodic frequency and magnitude of a target periodic vibration of a sprung mass. The periodic vibration has velocity and elasticity components that are 90 degrees out-of-phase. An electric drive signal to the real-time damper is reshaped by a controller depending on polarity of the velocity component to thereby generate a composite drive signal. The damper is energized using the composite drive signal to modify a damper force. Reshaping the electric drive signal includes injecting a force and/or an intermittent drive suppression component onto the electric drive signal based on the frequency and magnitude. The sprung mass system may have a frame and body, motion and wheel speed sensors, the real-time dampers, road wheels, and a controller programmed to perform the method.
CONTROL METHOD OF VEHICLE AND CONTROL APPARATUS THEREOF
A control method of a vehicle includes determining a look-ahead time, calculating a predicted passage position by using specific vehicle information having at least a position of a wheel at the current time point, velocity of the vehicle, and the proceeding direction of the vehicle, acquiring a road surface displacement-associated value at the predicted passage position, calculating a final target control force based on the road surface displacement-associated value at the predicted passage position, and controlling a control force generator based on the final target control force.
APPARATUS FOR CORNERING CONTROL OF VEHICLE AND METHOD THEREOF
An apparatus for controlling cornering of a vehicle includes a control unit configured to receive a plurality of vehicle signals output from the input unit, to output each of damping forces obtained through a plurality of controls performed on the basis of the plurality of vehicle signals, and to output a damping force variation calculated through a cornering control performed on the basis of some of the plurality of vehicle signals, an adjustment unit configured to apply the damping force variation output from the control unit to an integrated damping force and then output a final damping force, and a damping unit configured to receive a changed current signal of the final damping force and then adjust a damping force of a damper. The damping force of the damper of the damping unit is controlled to be reduced when it is determined that the vehicle enters circuit cornering.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS OF ADJUSTABLE SUSPENSIONS FOR OFF-ROAD RECREATIONAL VEHICLES
A damping control system is provided for an off-road recreational vehicles having a suspension located between a ground engaging member and a vehicle frame and including at least one adjustable shock absorber having an adjustable damping characteristic based on an input from a sensor.

System and method for controlling the stability of a vehicle provided with a semi-active suspension
A system for controlling the stability of a vehicle equipped with semi-active dampers includes: an actuator, a plurality of sensors, a low-level control unit, a high-level control unit and a mid-level control unit adapted to execute an algorithm for calculating a damping level (C.sub.ref).
