Apparatus for operating a cold-gas generator for a vehicle
A cold gas generator for a vehicle includes a container for storing gas, and an outlet opening closed by a closure element. The apparatus for operating the cold gas generator has a first terminal for a first connecting line for providing a first operating voltage potential, and a second terminal for a second connecting line for providing a second operating voltage potential. The apparatus also has an electrical coil to actuate, in response to a coil current, a closure device for controlling a gas flow through the outlet opening, the coil being connected between the first terminal and the second terminal. The apparatus also has a firing device to open the closure element in response to a firing current, the firing device being connected between the first terminal and the second terminal.
AIRBAG WITH INDIVIDUALLY TUNABLE COMPARTMENTS
An airbag includes a manifold having an outer panel and an inflation chamber defined at least in party by the outer panel. The airbag further includes a first compartment and a second compartment spaced from the first compartment connected to the outer panel and positioned external to the inflation chamber. A first one-way valve is in fluid communication with the manifold and the first compartment, and a second one-way valve is in fluid communication with the manifold and the second compartment.
OCCUPANT PROTECTION SYSTEM AND VEHICLE SEAT EQUIPPED WITH THE SAME
An occupant protection system for a vehicle seat on which an occupant sits, the occupant protection system including: an acquiring unit that acquires information of at least one of a state of the vehicle seat, a state of the occupant seated on the vehicle seat, a traveling state of the vehicle, or an environment state of a periphery of the vehicle; a plurality of airbags disposed in correspondence with each portion of the occupant and inflated by supply of gas; a gas generator that generates the gas to be supplied to the airbags; and a control unit that, based on the information acquired by the acquiring unit, selects airbag out of the plurality of airbags, necessary to suppress the occupant from moving in an acting direction of inertial force from the vehicle seat, and that controls a supply amount of the gas to each airbag such that the selected airbag inflates.
AIRBAG FOR VEHICLE
An airbag for a vehicle is proposed. The airbag includes an inflator configured to generate gas, the airbag cushion connected to the inflator and configured to expand by the gas, and a variable vent provided in a first side of the airbag cushion and configured to control opening and closing state of a vent hole of the variable vent for gas escape from the airbag cushion in response to an operational condition of the airbag cushion.
Gas generator with throttle member
Gas generator including means to provide a pressurized gas, a gas exit portion and a throttle member located in said gas exit portion, having one or more openings for the passage of said gas and being deformable by a gas flowing through said throttle when the pressure of said gas is above a predetermined pressure, to prevent or reduce gas flow.
Airbag module and airbag system
An airbag module has an airbag and a gas generator, between which a gas supply with a valve arrangement is arranged. The valve arrangement has an electrically actuatable pilot valve and a hydraulic transmission arrangement for amplifying a stroke action of the pilot valve.
Systems and methods for inflator-based actuation
An inflator-based system provides for the actuation of valves and other devices using automotive air bag inflators, for example. One or more inflators can be connected to a valve body with an adapter such that upon inflator activation, inflator gases can act on a piston or similar device to achieve desired movement or operation of the valve or device. An inflator-based actuator can provide for a single action or multiple actions of a valve or other device. Such a system can provide safer and more reliable alternatives to electro-explosive ordnance devices found in pyrovalves, for example. Other uses for an inflator-based actuation system can include a lanyard pull initiator, a dual cartridge cutter, a bolt cutter, a hot gas generator (HGG) body, and a HGG pressure cartridge, to name a few examples.
Restraint system
A restraint system includes a first plate, a second plate rotatably coupled to the first plate and rotatable away from the first plate from an undeployed position to a deployed position, a panel connected to the first plate and to the second plate, and a pyrotechnic activator coupled to the second plate. The panel is flexible relative to the first plate and the second plate. The first plate, the second plate, and the panel form a chamber having an interior volume. The pyrotechnic activator is arranged to, when discharged, rotate the second plate from the undeployed position toward the deployed position. One of the first plate or the second plate includes a vent hole in communication with the interior volume of the chamber.
Airbag control device and airbag unit
An airbag control device for controlling the volume of an airbag (10) of a restraining means, comprising an inflator (14) for inflating the airbag (10) and an electrically controllable decoupling device (22) for tension means via which the geometry of the airbag (10) can be varied, is characterized in that the inflator (14) and the decoupling device (22) are fluid-communicated and the decoupling device (22) includes at least one outlet opening (36) the cross-section of which is variable by an electrically controllable actuator (46) and through which gas can escape from the inflator (14) to the atmosphere. Moreover, the invention describes an airbag unit.
Airbag device
The airbag device protects the occupant seated in the vehicle seat disposed in the vehicle. An airbag device includes a first airbag group and a second airbag group that are disposed in the vehicle seat in correspondence with impacts from two different directions and that respectively include a plurality of airbags; a gas generation unit that is disposed in a seat cushion, of the vehicle seat, that supports the buttocks region of the occupant and that generates gas to be supplied to the first airbag group or the second airbag group; and a switching unit that switches the supply of gas to either the first airbag group or the second airbag group.
