METHOD FOR OPERATING A CONTROL DEVICE OF A MOTOR VEHICLE
A method for operating a control device of a motor vehicle driving by automation. The method includes determining a location of the motor vehicle, and acquiring driving-environment data of the motor vehicle, a control characteristic of the control device of the motor vehicle being formed in such a way that a driving behavior of at least one other road user is influenced in defined manner.
Systems and methods for navigating a vehicle among encroaching vehicles
Systems and methods use cameras to provide autonomous navigation features. In one implementation, a method for navigating a user vehicle may include acquiring, using at least one image capture device, a plurality of images of an area in a vicinity of the user vehicle; determining from the plurality of images a first lane constraint on a first side of the user vehicle and a second lane constraint on a second side of the user vehicle opposite to the first side of the user vehicle; enabling the user vehicle to pass a target vehicle if the target vehicle is determined to be in a lane different from the lane in which the user vehicle is traveling; and causing the user vehicle to abort the pass before completion of the pass, if the target vehicle is determined to be entering the lane in which the user vehicle is traveling.
STANDARD SCENE-BASED PLANNING CONTROL METHODS FOR OPERATING AUTONOMOUS VEHICLES
In one embodiment, motion planning and control data is received, where the motion planning and control data indicates that an autonomous vehicle is to move from a first point to a second point of a path within a predetermined route. In response to the motion planning and control data, the path from the first point to the second point is segmented into multiple path segments. For each of the path segments, one of predetermined driving scenes is identified that matches motion characteristics of the corresponding path segment. The motion planning and control data associated with the path segments is modified based on predetermined motion settings of the path segments. The autonomous vehicle is driven through the path segments of the path based on the modified motion planning and control data.
Control device
A control device of an automatic drive vehicle includes: an information acquisition unit that acquires power generator information as information on a power generator provided in the automatic drive vehicle; an operation control unit that switches between a first state in which automatic driving of the automatic drive vehicle is executed without restriction and a second state in which the automatic driving is partially or entirely restricted; and a determination unit that determines whether to perform switching to the second state by the operation control unit.
Autonomy first route optimization for autonomous vehicles
Embodiments herein can determine an optimal route for an autonomous electric vehicle. The system may score viable routes between the start and end locations of a trip using a numeric or other scale that denotes how viable the route is for autonomy. The score is adjusted using a variety of factors where a learning process leverages both offline and online data. The scored routes are not based simply on the shortest distance between the start and end points but determine the best route based on the driving context for the vehicle and the user.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PREDICTING BLIND SPOT INCURSIONS
Systems and methods are provided for predicting blind spot incursions for a host vehicle. In one implementation, a navigation system for a host vehicle may comprise a processor. The processor may be programmed to receive, from an image capture device located on a rear of the host vehicle, at least one image representative of an environment of the host vehicle. The processor may be programmed to analyze the at least one image to identify an object in the environment of the host vehicle and to determine kinematic information associated with the object. The processor may further be programmed to predict, based on the kinematic information, that the object will travel in a region outside of a field of view of the image capture device and perform a control action based on the prediction.
METHOD FOR CONTROLLING A MOTOR VEHICLE IN EMERGENCY STEERING MODE BY MEANS OF FRONT WHEEL BRAKE-BASED TORQUE VECTORING
A method can be used to control a steer-by-wire steering system in an emergency steering mode. The method comprises checking a steering system for the presence of a fault state and upon detection of a fault implementing the emergency steering mode, which involves determining a setpoint position of a steering tie rod using a setpoint wheel steering angle, determining a front wheel to be braked and a brake pressure to attain the setpoint position with a control unit, transmitting the front wheel to be braked and the brake pressure to a brake system, braking the front wheel to be braked, and increasing a torque provided by a wheel drive to compensate for a loss of speed of the motor vehicle caused by the braking of the front wheel to be braked.
DUAL SENSOR READOUT CHANNEL TO ALLOW FOR FREQUENCY DETECTION
The present disclosure relates to navigation and to systems and methods for using a dual sensor readout channel to allow for frequency detection. In one implementation, at least one processing device may receive a plurality of images acquired by a camera onboard a host vehicle, wherein the plurality of images are received via a first channel and via a second channel, and wherein the first channel is associated with a first frame capture rate, and the second channel is associated with a second frame capture rate different from the first frame capture rate. The processing device may use images received via the first channel to detect flickering and non-flickering light sources in an environment of the host vehicle; and provide, based on images received via the second channel, images for showing on one or more human-viewable displays.
Route risk mitigation
A method is disclosed for analyzing historical accident information to adjust driving actions of an autonomous vehicle over a travel route in order to avoid accidents which have occurred over the travel route. Historical accident information for the travel route can be analyzed to, for example, determine accident types which occurred over the travel route and determine causes and/or probable causes of the accident types. In response to determining accident types and causes/probable causes of the accident types over the travel route, adjustments can be made to the driving actions planned for the autonomous vehicle over the travel route. In addition, in an embodiment, historical accident information can be used to analyze available travel routes and select a route which presents less risk of accident than others.
