DEVICE AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
A control device for an internal combustion engine includes processing circuitry. The processing circuitry is configured to execute a purging process that draws the fuel vapor trapped in the canister into the intake passage by controlling the purge valve, a fuel feeding process that feeds the air-fuel mixture, which includes the fuel supplied to the cylinder, to the exhaust passage without burning the air-fuel mixture in the cylinder, and a fuel supply process that supplies fuel to the cylinder when the fuel feeding process is being performed. The processing circuitry is further configured to perform the fuel supply process by performing the purging process.
Methods and system for downshifting a transmission
Systems and methods for operating a driveline of a hybrid vehicle are disclosed. In one example, an engine may enter or stay in one of two cylinder deactivation modes or enter or stay in a combustion mode in response to a request to downshift a transmission while a vehicle in which the engine resides is coasting.
Vehicle and vehicle speed controlling method
A speed controlling method for a vehicle comprises obtaining a driving speed limit of a road ahead from a navigation system of the vehicle. A current driving speed of the vehicle is detected and if the current driving speed of the vehicle is greater than the limit ahead, a driver of the vehicle is informed that he must slow down in a distance between the vehicle and a speed measuring device located on the road ahead.
Fuel pressure sensor diagnostic during engine stopping
The vehicle is a hybrid vehicle capable of traveling using motive power of at least one of an engine and a motor generator. The vehicle includes: a fuel pump; an injection valve injecting fuel supplied from the fuel pump to the engine; a fuel pressure sensor detecting a supply pressure of the fuel generated by the fuel pump; and an engine ECU. The engine ECU performs a fuel pressure increasing process of increasing the supply pressure of the fuel generated by the fuel pump, and conducts a fault diagnosis of the fuel pressure sensor based on a value detected by the fuel pressure sensor during the fuel pressure increasing process. The engine ECU conducts the fault diagnosis of the fuel pressure sensor in a case where the engine is being stopped and a vehicle speed is higher than a threshold value.
Control system of power transmission system
A control system controls a power transmission system located between a motive power source and drive wheels. The power transmission system includes a fluid coupling and an engagement device. The control system includes an electronic control unit configured to: obtain information concerning vibration of the power transmission system; determine whether the vibration of the power transmission system is in a resonance region of the power transmission system; control the engagement device so that the engagement device slips, when the electronic control unit determines that the power transmission system is in the resonance region; and control the motive power source when the electronic control unit determines that the power transmission system is in the resonance region, so that a rotational speed of the motive power source increases as compared with a case where the power transmission system is not in the resonance region.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR INTAKE OXYGEN SENSOR DIAGNOSTICS
Methods and systems are provided for diagnosing whether one or more intake air oxygen sensors positioned in an intake of an engine of a vehicle, are functioning as desired. In one example, a method comprises injecting fuel into one or more cylinders of the engine without combustion, routing un-combusted hydrocarbons from the one or more cylinders to the intake via a crankcase ventilation system, and indicating whether the one or more intake air oxygen sensors are functioning as desired based on a response of the one or more intake air oxygen sensors. In this way, the one or more intake air oxygen sensors may be periodically diagnosed which may improve engine operation, and reduce engine degradation, particularly with regard to hybrid electric vehicles with limited engine run-time.
Method of resuming multi-port injection using an intake stroke and a vehicle using same
A method of resuming multi-port injection using an intake stroke of an engine includes performing a first refueling with immediate start of ignition injection at the time when an injection abortion angle does not pass through an intake stroke, when injection is determined to be resumed after coasting by a controller. The method can minimize an engine RPM drop caused by the early generation of torque. The method improves fuel efficiency while being advantageous to calibration of the engine by setting the engine RPM to be low at the time of fuel cut-in.
Hybrid electric vehicle and method of efficiently controlling transmission thereof
A transmission control method that improves fuel economy when gear shift and engine clutch release are to be simultaneously performed is provided. A parallel type hybrid electric vehicle having an engine clutch mounted between an electric motor and an engine includes a first controller that executes transmission gear shift during a first control period and a second controller that operates the engine clutch and generates an engine clutch release request. A third controller permits the engine clutch release request to release the engine clutch before the second control period upon determining that a time when the release request has been generated is within a third control period, which is a period before a second control period in which actual shift is generated within the first control period, and a remaining time until a time when the second control period is started is equal to or greater than a critical time.
Method and device for operating a drive system for a motor vehicle
A method for operating a drive system having at least one drive engine for a motor vehicle, having the following: carrying out an acceleration monitoring of the motor vehicle, a changeover to an alternative monitoring being made when the acceleration monitoring can no longer carry out a reliable monitoring, and, in the alternative monitoring, an engine rotational speed being limited to a maximum permissible engine rotational speed; and ascertaining the maximum permissible rotational speed as a function of a rotational speed specification specified by a driver's request.
