An inversion-formed double-walled tube includes an outer tube having an outer wall thickness, an inner tube disposed inside the outer tube and having an inner wall thickness, and a transition portion connecting the inner tube and the outer tube. In this arrangement, at least one of the inner and outer wall thicknesses varies along a length of the double-walled tube. The inversion-formed double-walled tube may be configured as an inversion tube type energy absorber and as an energy absorbing inversion tube assembly.

Vehicle seat backrest having a weakened area that is able to tear

The vehicle seat back according to the invention includes a textile assembly (30) having at least one embrittled linear zone (32, 32A, 32B) able to tear during an impact of the head of a passenger located on the seat behind the seat back considered, so as to enable rocking of this passenger's head to be continued and, at the same time, to be slowed down. Application to aircraft seats.

Frameless transit seat

A frameless transit seat is used for carrying passengers in a transit vehicle. The transit seat is comprised of at least two pedestals which connect the seating portion to the vehicle floor and which distribute the weight of the seat and its passenger(s). Under the passenger, at least two side supports are affixed on top of the pedestals, and one or more crossbars or stabilizers, without any rack frame structures connecting the pedestals. A variant of the transit seat has two seats and uses a mounting plate to connect the two inner side supports to a central pedestal. The components of the transit seat include hollow beams, bent sheet metal, and other components optimized to decrease mass while retaining maximum strength. Optionally, the seat may recline and be upholstered in a variety of covering options.

SEATING SUSPENSION DIAPHRAGM HAVING INTEGRATED SLIDE-IN ATTACHMENT MEANS

A method of upholstering a seat having a seating frame, and a corresponding attachment assembly, comprises providing a diaphragm generally having a weave of warp and weft yarns with an attachment member for installation of the diaphragm to the seat. The attachment member comprises an adapter strip and a coil member. The coil member is adapted to be intertwined with the weave of the diaphragm and thereafter inserted into and held by the channel in the seating frame. The adapter strip may be connected to the coil member to facilitate feeding the assembly through the channel in the seating frame. Alternately, the adapter strip can replace the channel in the seating frame and instead provide a mounting structure to which the diaphragm can be attached through the coil member's engagement with the adapter strip. A retainer sheet may also be used to maintain a desired tension of the diaphragm during installation.

A rack is made from a plurality of laminated layers. Each layer defines an alignment feature that allows all of the layers to be affixed to a base plate of an aircraft seat assembly and align the teeth of the rack to within five ten-thousandths of an inch. The rack includes a straight portion and a curved portion such that a pinion gear on the aircraft seat assembly can move the aircraft seat assembly along tracks with straight and curved portions.

Tube Having a Hybrid-Type Structure, in Particular for an Aircraft Seat

A hybrid tube, in particular for an aircraft seat structure includes ribs intended to receive the hybrid tube. The hybrid tube includes a monolithic carbon tube and at least one sleeve made from a ductile material and connected to the carbon tube by means of gluing, shrink-fitting or over-moulding.

PASSENGER SEATBACK ASSEMBLY WITH THERMOPLASTIC ELEMENTS

A thermoplastic seatback for a passenger seat includes a thermoplastic peripheral structural frame for attachment to a seat assembly and a thermoplastic diaphragm overmolded onto a forward face of the frame. An aircraft passenger seat and a method of constructing a passenger seatback is also disclosed.
