The method may comprise exposing a substrate to light in the presence of an organic photocatalyst and oxygen, and optionally a photosensitizer to produce an oxidation product of the substrate and hydrogen peroxide. The reaction may be performed in water and in some aspects, the reaction oxidizes water to produce hydrogen peroxide.
