Alkali-doped and alkali-free boroaluminosilicate glass
Alkali-doped boroaluminosilicate glasses are provided. The glasses include the network formers SiO.sub.2, B.sub.2O.sub.3, and Al.sub.2O.sub.3. The glass may, in some embodiments, have a Young's modulus of less than about 65 GPa and/or a coefficient of thermal expansion of less than about 40×10.sup.−7/° C. The glass may be used as a cover glass for electronic devices, a color filter substrate, a thin film transistor substrate, or an outer clad layer for a glass laminate.
Lighting unit with laminate structure
A lighting unit includes a glass laminate structure including a base layer formed from a first glass composition with a refractive index n.sub.base and a surface layer fused to a surface of the base layer and formed from a second glass composition with a refractive index n.sub.surface. The surface layer includes a high refractive index region with a refractive index n.sub.high and a low refractive index region with a refractive index n.sub.low. n.sub.base and n.sub.surface satisfy the equation |n.sub.surface−n.sub.base≥0.001, n.sub.high is greater than or equal to n.sub.base 1, and n.sub.low is less than n.sub.base. The high refractive index region is optically coupled to the base layer such that at least a portion of light propagating through the base layer leaks out of the base layer and into the high refractive index region. A display device or a luminaire can include the lighting unit.
Laminate article having a non-glass core and glass envelope and methods thereof
A laminate sheet article including: a core including an electrical semi-conductor or an electrical conductor; and a continuous glass clad layer on at least four of six sides the core of the sheet article. Also disclosed is an apparatus for making a sheet laminate article as defined herein. Also disclosed is a method of making and using the article.

METHODS FOR MANUFACTURING GLASS ARTICLES
Methods of producing a glass article include melting a first glass composition and feeding a second glass composition into the melter. Both glass compositions include the same combination of components but at least one component has a concentration that is different in each. At least three glass articles may be drawn from the melter, including: a first glass article formed from the first glass composition; at least one intermediate glass article composed of neither the first nor the second glass composition; and a final glass article not composed of the first glass composition. The concentration of the at least one component in the intermediate glass article may be between the concentration in the first and second glass compositions. The first glass article and final glass article may have differing values for certain properties, and the intermediate glass article may have an intermediate set of values for the same properties.

Insulating Element with a Corrugated Surface
An insulating element for thermal isolation includes a vacuum cell having a wall with a corrugation.
Tinted aluminosilicate glass compositions and glass articles including same
A tinted glass composition and glass article including the same, the composition including: about 45 mol % to about 80 mol % SiO.sub.2; about 6 mol % to about 22 mol % Al.sub.2O.sub.3; 0 mol % to about 25 mol % B.sub.2O.sub.3; about 7 mol % to about 25 mol % of at least one alkaline earth oxide selected from MgO, CaO, SrO, BaO, and combinations thereof; about 0.5 mol % to about 20 mol % CuO; 0 mol % to about 6 mol % SnO.sub.2, SnO, or a combination thereof; 0 mol % to about 1.0 mol % C; 0 mol % to about 5 mol % La.sub.2O.sub.3; and 0 mol % to about 10 mol % PbO, and that is substantially free of alkali metal.
