PRODUCTION OF DISPERSANTS BY NITROXIDE-MEDIATED SOLUTION POLYMERIZATION

The present invention relates to processes for preparing a copolymer, especially a dispersant for solid particles, in particular a dispersant for mineral binder compositions, wherein ionizable monomers m1 and side chain-bearing monomers m2 are polymerized by nitroxide-mediated solution polymerization to give a copolymer, wherein the polymerization is conducted in the presence of an agent comprising a carboxyl group-bearing and phosphated alkoxy amine.

METHOD OF FORMING A SAND CONTROL DEVICE FROM A CURABLE INORGANIC MIXTURE INFUSED WITH DEGRADABLE MATERIAL AND METHOD OF PRODUCING FORMATION FLUIDS THROUGH A SAND CONTROL DEVICE FORMED FROM A CURABLE INORGANIC MIXTURE INFUSED WITH DEGRADABLE MATERIAL

A method of excluding particles entrained in formation fluids includes introducing a tubular into a wellbore, forming a sand control device formed from a curable inorganic cementitious mixture infused with an engineered degradable material about the tubular, introducing an external stimulus onto the sand control device causing the degradable material to dissolve, and flowing formation fluids through the sand control device into the tubular.

Fibers to be added to concrete to improve its properties are coated with an alkali-insoluble polymer, to provide adhesion of the fibers to the concrete. In a further improvement, nanoparticles are dispersed in an alkali-soluble polymer coating, and this is used to coat the fibers. When the fibers are mixed into the concrete mix, the nanoparticles are dispersed throughout the concrete, avoiding problems from agglomeration of the nanoparticles if simply added to the concrete mix.
