PROCESS FOR PRODUCING POLYARYLENE ETHER NITRILE WITH EFFICIENTLY RECOVERING N-METHYLPYRROLIDONE SOLVENT

A process for producing polyarylene ether nitrile, in which an N-methylpyrrolidone solvent can be efficiently recovered. The process includes the following steps: mixing N-methylpyrrolidone, potassium carbonate, 2,6-dichlorobenzonitrile, dihydric phenol and toluene, and carrying out a dehydration reaction and a polymerization reaction in sequence to obtain a high-viscosity polyarylene ether nitrile solution; then pelletizing and conveying polyarylene ether nitrile particles together with methanol to a primary vibrating screen to complete a primary replacement of N-methylpyrrolidone; then using a secondary vibrating screen to complete a secondary replacement of the solvent; subsequently, grinding the polyarylene ether nitrile particles and carrying out an extraction with methanol, and then centrifuging, washing with water and drying to obtain purified polyarylene ether nitrile powder; and finally distilling replacement liquid and centrifugation liquid to separate methanol from N-methylpyrrolidone.

Vicinal diol ether derivatives of polyether polymers

The invention relates to vicinal diol ether derivatives of certain polyether polymers, compositions comprising the same, and methods of making the same via reaction with substituted or unsubstituted epoxides, and methods of using the same.

Polymers having stable cationic pendant groups for use as anion exchange membranes

Poly(aryl alkylene) polymers or poly(aryl-crown ether-alkylene) polymers with pendant cationic groups are provided which have an alkaline-stable cation, such as imidazolium, introduced into a rigid aromatic polymer backbone free of ether bonds. Hydroxide exchange membranes or hydroxide exchange ionomers formed from these polymers exhibit superior chemical stability, hydroxide conductivity, decreased water uptake, good solubility in selected solvents, and improved mechanical properties in an ambient dry state as compared to conventional hydroxide exchange membranes or ionomers. Hydroxide exchange membrane fuel cells and hydroxide exchange membrane electrolyzers comprising the poly(aryl alkylene) polymers or poly(aryl-crown ether-alkylene) polymers with pendant cationic groups exhibit enhanced performance and durability at relatively high temperatures.

Method for comparative analysis on mechanical strength of macro-molecular polymer materials

A method for detecting or comparing mechanical strength of macro-molecular polymer materials. The detecting method has the steps of measuring the mechanical strength and the maximum value of the fluorescence absorption spectrum of each of the plurality of samples to form a curve relationship or function relationship between the maximum value of the fluorescence absorption spectrum and the mechanical strength; measuring the maximum value of the fluorescence absorption spectrum of the target material, and using the curve relationship or the function relationship to obtain the mechanical strength of the target material. The plurality of samples and the target material are both prepared from a macro-molecular polymer, and the macro-molecular polymer may be composed of disulfonate-difluorobenzophenone, hydroxyindole and difluorobenzophenone as monomers, and the sulfonate groups of the disulfonate-difluorobenzophenone have metal cations. An object of the method is to identify mechanical properties of polymer materials by fluorescence nondestructive detection.

DCPD-derived polyether and method of producing the same

A low-k, non-flammable dicyclopentdiene (DCPD)-derived polyether and a method of producing the same are introduced. Incorporation of a phosphorus group and a DCPD derivative into a low-k, non-flammable dicyclopentdiene (DCPD)-derived polyether enable the DCPD-derived polyether to not only serve as an epoxy resin curing agent but also cure itself such that the cured product not only features satisfactory thermal properties and low-k characteristics but is also non-flammable.
