Epoxy based reinforcing patches having improved damping loss factor

A reinforcing sheet including one or more layers of a reinforcing material, and a thermosetting adhesive associated with the reinforcing material, wherein the thermosetting adhesive includes a curing agent, and an epoxy-modified dimerized fatty acid combined with an epoxy terminated polyurethane interpenetrating network.

IN-SITU FORMATION OF LOW DENSITY THERMOPLASTIC POLYURETHANE FLEXIBLE FOAMS

A reactive mixture and method for making a thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) flexible foam having a predominantly open-cell structure (open-cell content of ≥50% by volume calculated on the total volume of the foam and measured according to ASTM D6226-10) and an apparent density below 200 kg/m.sup.3.

Foamed resin object

The present invention aims to provide a resin foam excellent in shock absorption properties and damping properties and less likely to cause sheet misalignment. Provided is a resin foam having a multitude of cells, the resin foam containing: a polyvinyl acetal; and a plasticizer, the resin foam having a loss tangent tan δ with a peak of 0.5 or higher in the range of 0° C. to 50° C. as determined by dynamic viscoelasticity measurement at a measurement frequency of 1 Hz, and the resin foam having a 23° C. compression set of 85% or lower.

FABRICATION OF AEROGELS AND AEROGEL COMPOSITES BY AMBIENT PRESSURE SUBLIMATION OF FROZEN SOLVENTS
20220356320 · 2022-11-10 ·

Drying polar solvents which do not form hydrogen bonds with a wet gel or aerogel, or eutectics or solvent mixtures with the drying solvents, are utilized in a solvent exchange with wet gels used in the formation of aerogels. Preferably the drying solvents are non-polar solvents. The drying solvent or solvent mixtures results in profoundly less shrinkage, thereby allowing for the production of aerogels of preferred materials properties.

A foamed article formed by foam injection molding or foam extrusion of a composition is disclosed. The article is formed from a molding composition consisting essentially of: 100 phr of at least two different hydrogenated styrenic block copolymers (HSBC), a first HSBC and a second HSBC, having different molecular weights, a molecular weight ratio of at least 1.2:1, respectively; and a weight ratio of ranging from 5:95 to 95:5, respectively; 10-55 phr of a polypropylene having a melt flow of at least 2 g10/min; and optionally up to 55 phr of a plasticizer, selected from hydrocarbon based oils, fatty acids, triglyceride oils, and mixtures thereof. The composition has a melt flow rate of 2-50 g/10 min, a Shore A hardness of 60-90, a melt strength (F) of at least 0.010 N, and a melt strength (V) of at least 10.

Expandable graphite flame retardant coating for polyurethane and latex foam

A flexible foam composition includes a flexible foam body having a surface, which flexible foam is polyurethane and/or latex flexible foam, and an expandable graphite layer on the surface or within the foam surface adjacent to the surface. The flexible foam composition with the expandable graphite layer imparts improved flame retardant properties to the composition.

POLYOL RESIN BLEND FOR USE IN PRODUCING STABLE POLYOL COMPONENTS
20220340705 · 2022-10-27 ·

The present disclosure relates to a polyol resin blend for use in a polyurethane formulation. The polyol resin blend generally includes (a) an amine having a pKa value between about 6 and about 8.5 and a protonated amine obtained by contacting a methylamino-containing tertiary amine or primary etheramine having a pKa value greater than about 9 and an acid compound, (b) a polyol, and (c) a halogenated olefin. The present disclosure also provides polyurethane formulations containing the polyol resin blend and methods of making polyurethane foam from such polyurethane formulations.

Method of making dispersions

Dispersions of silicate particles are formed in a polyol phase. The polyol, an alkoxysilane, water and catalyst are combined and reacted under specific temperature conditions to form the silicate particles in-situ in a liquid polyol phase. The dispersions are characterized in having excellent stability.

POLYOL PRE-MIXES HAVING IMPROVED SHELF LIFE

A polyol pre-mix containing at least one halogenated hydroolefin blowing agent and having improved shelf life stability is provided, wherein each polyol combined with the halogenated hydroolefin blowing agent has an apparent pH of between 3 and 11.4. Controlling the apparent pH of the polyol(s) enables the polyol pre-mix to be stored for extended periods of time and then used in combination with organic polyisocyanate to produce foam formulations having gel times and tack free times not significantly different from those exhibited when freshly prepared polyol pre-mix is used.

Fire-stopping product

A fire-stopping material for use in sandwich panels is provided, wherein the fire-stopping material comprises a resilient, porous material at least partially impregnated with an intumescent agent. A panel for an internal wall and an internal wall are also provided, comprising the fire-stopping material disposed between two substantially parallel boards, such as plaster boards. A method of providing a service penetration through an internal wall is also provided.
