A method of manufacturing a mineral fibre thermal insulation product comprises the sequential steps of: Forming mineral fibres from a molten mineral mixture; Spraying a substantially formaldehyde free binder solution on to the mineral fibres, the binder solution comprising: a reducing sugar, an acid precursor derivable from an inorganic salt and a source of nitrogen; Collecting the mineral fibres to which the binder solution has been applied to form a batt of mineral fibres; and Curing the batt comprising the mineral fibres and the binder which is in contact with the mineral fibres by passing the batt through a curing oven so as to provide a batt of mineral fibres held together by a substantially water insoluble cured binder.

A hydrophilizing treatment agent that includes: a hydrophilic polymer (A) having at least one of an alkoxysilyl group and a hydrolysate thereof, and also having a betaine structure, in each molecule; and a hydrophilic polymer (B) that is a hydrophilic polymer having an ionic functional group and/or a non-ionic hydrophilic polymer. B/(A+B) is 1.0-51.0%. The preferred moist heat resistance and scratch resistance of the hydrophilic coating film formed by the hydrophilizing treatment agent are obtained due to the hydrophilic polymer (A) and the hydrophilic polymer (B) forming an ionically crosslinked network or a dipole-dipole interaction network.

The method for manufacturing a liquid crystal display device includes, in the following order, the steps of: (1) forming on a substrate a film of a photo-alignment film material containing two or more polymers and a solvent; (2) pre-baking the film to evaporate the solvent; (3) post-baking the pre-baked film gradually at multiple temperatures from a low temperature to a high temperature; and (4) irradiating the post-baked film with polarized light, at least one of the two or more polymers being a photo-reactive polymer containing a photo-functional group in a side chain.
