An adhesive device comprising a microstructure and polymer designed to interdigitate with the surface structure of a target surface. The device may include a microstructure material having an elastomeric, crosslinked polymer which may swell in the presence of a liquid. In the pre-swell state, the device microstructure may interdigitate with a target surface microstructure. When liquid on the target surface contacts the microstructure surface of the device, the liquid may cause the microstructure surface of the device to swell. The swelling may cause the microstructure to grasp the target surface resulting in adhesion between the device and the target surfaces.

A heat transferable label component for a garment or other clothing item or article is disclosed which is preferably produced using all digitally controlled manufacturing methods. The label component comprises a carrier layer, a release layer, an optional primer layer, a color design layer, a transition layer and at least one adhesive layer. The color design layer displays an image on the label, and the transition layer fixates the image and renders it wash and/or wear resistant. The at least one adhesive layer is positioned on the transition layer, and is preferably applied thereto via a selective laser sintering (SLS) process, wherein a powder layer is spread on the surface and fused with a laser. The adhesive layer can be a double layer comprising a white reactive adhesive layer that undergoes a crosslink reaction to become a thermoset and a substantially clear thermoplastic adhesive layer.

An adhesive two-part formulation is provided that includes an amount of free-radical curable monomers, each of said free-radical curable monomers containing at least one acrylate moiety or at least one methacrylate moiety, a Lewis acid, a thermoplastic resin; and a polymeric impact modifier. Also present in the formulation is an amount of an activator of borane-amine complex, a metal accelerator; and a grafted elastomer with a thermoplastic additive. A process of applying the formulation to a substrate includes mixing together the formulation components such that each part has a storage stability at 50° C. for 30 days where the viscosity at 30 days is within 40% of an initial viscosity. The mixture is applied to the substrate and then allowed to cure to achieve an initial strength of at least 1 MPa lap shear strength within 45 minutes.

Provided is an adhesive as follows. The adhesive can bond/secure an adherend to a support with maintaining high adhesiveness during the existence of the need for securing of the adherend to the support, even in a high-temperature environment or in an environment with abrupt temperature change. The adhesive enables debonding of the adherend from the support without breakage of the adherend when the securing becomes unnecessary. The adhesive can be easily removed when remained on the adherend after debonding. The adhesive according to the present invention contains (A) a multivalent vinyl ether compound, (B) a compound including two or more of a constitutional unit represented by Formula (b), and (C) a thermoplastic resin.
