METHOD FOR CONTROLLING SLIME IN A PULP OR PAPER MAKING PROCESS

The present invention pertains to the field of pulp or paper making. More specifically the present invention relates to a method of preventing a build-up of slime or removing slime from a surface contacted with water from a pulp or paper making process. The present invention can control slime in an efficient and environmentally friendly way.

METHOD OF PRODUCING THIN ENZYME-BASED SENSING LAYERS ON PLANAR SENSORS

A sensor implanted in tissues and including a sensing layer is fabricated by mixing the signal transduction enzyme with non-reactive components including buffer salts and fillers, and spin coating the enzyme onto a substrate. The signal transduction enzyme is crosslinked by introducing the coated substrate in a vacuum chamber. In the chamber, a crosslinker evaporates and is deposited onto the enzyme, therefore crosslinking the enzyme.

A method for the enzymatic production of D-fructose from D-glucose in a one-pot synthesis, wherein D-glucose is oxidized enzymatically to D-glucosone and D-glucosone is reduced enzymatically to D-fructose and the use of the D-fructose produced in this way for the production of furan derivatives.

COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS FOR PRODUCTION OF VALUE-ADDED CHEMICALS

A molecular manufacturing process includes contacting a platform molecule with (i) a biocatalyst and (ii) a chemical catalyst under conditions suitable to produce a value-added chemical.

Bee-less honey

Systems comprising a first polynucleotide comprising a regulatory element operatively linked to an open reading frame encoding an invertase enzyme and a second polynucleotide comprising a repressible regulatory element operatively linked to an open reading frame encoding a glucose oxidase enzyme wherein the repressible element inhibits transcription in response to hydrogen peroxide are provided. Cells and compositions comprising a system of the invention, as well as methods using the system of the invention, are also provided, as is artificial honey.

ENZYMATIC AND CHEMICAL CATALYSIS FOR PRODUCTION FROM GLUCOSE OF THE PHARMACEUTICAL PRECURSOR, S-3-HYDROXY- Y -BUTYROLACTONE HBL

A method of synthesizing(S)-3-hydroxy--butyrolactone (HBL), the method including producing a trione using an enzymatic conversion of glucosone. The enzymatic conversion may include: mutating a domain of Aldos-2-ulose dehydratase (AUDH) to obtain a mutant AUDH; dehydrating glucosone using the mutant AUDH to obtain an intermediate, basidiopyrone P (BPP) (4,5-dihydroxy-2-(hydroxymethyl)-2H-pyran-5-one); and forming the trione from the BPP. The method may further include catalyzing the trione using a base to form an ester of 3,4-dihydroxybutyrate; and converting the ester of 3,4-dihydroxybutyrate into the HBL by adding an acid to the ester of 3,4-dihydroxybutyrate.
