FLAME RESISTANT FABRICS HAVING FIBERS CONTAINING ENERGY ABSORBING AND/OR REFLECTING ADDITIVES

Embodiments of the invention relate to flame resistant fabrics containing fibers having at least one energy absorbing and/or reflecting additive incorporated into the fibers. Inclusion of such fibers into the fabric increases the arc rating/fabric weight ratio of the fabric while still complying with all requisite thermal protective requirements.

FABRICS INCLUDING A SINGLE-PLY YARN AND/OR HAVING LOW PICKS PER INCH OR LOW COURSES PER INCH

Fabrics including a single-ply yarn are described herein along with fabrics that have low picks per inch or low courses per inch. The fabrics may comprise modacrylic fibers, meta-aramid fibers, anti-static fibers, and optionally para-aramid fibers, and the fabrics may comprise: about 10% or 20% to about 60% or 80% modacrylic fibers by weight of the fabric; about 20% or 40% to about 80% meta-aramid fibers by weight of the fabric; about 0.1% to about 2% anti-static fibers by weight of the fabric; and about 0% to about 10% para-aramid fibers by weight of the fabric.

Hybrid fiber cord and method for manufacturing the same
09789731 · 2017-10-17 · ·

Disclosed are a hybrid fiber cord comprising a nylon filament and an aramid filament, the cord having more uniform physical properties and better strength and fatigue properties and being able to be made more easily than the conventional hybrid fiber cords such that it can be used to make an ultra high performance tire, and a method for manufacturing the same. The hybrid fiber cord comprises a nylon primarily-twisted yarn having a first twist number, and an aramid primarily-twisted yarn having a second twist number. The first twist number is identical with the second twist number. The nylon and aramid primarily-twisted yarns are secondarily-twisted together to have identical structures with each other.

FABRIC AND FIBER PRODUCT

In order to provide a fabric and a fiber product, which have hygroscopicity and durability as well as flame retardancy, a hydrophilizing agent is added to a fabric containing aramid fibers.

Fiber blends for wash durable thermal and comfort properties

Spun yarns, fabrics, and garments with a balance of high thermal and comfort properties are disclosed. Spun yarns made with an intimate blend of fibers including flame resistant fiber, hydrophilic fibers, and anti-static fibers are described. The unique combination of fibers in the spun yarn and fabrics made therefrom provide a balance of high thermal properties, including flame resistance and thermal shrinkage resistance, as well as moisture management properties to provide both protection and comfort to the wearer. In addition, a spun yarn and fabric made therefrom may be dye accepting and/or can be printed thereon. In one embodiment, printable or dye accepting aramid fiber, or producer dyed meta-aramid is utilized in the spun yarn. A fabric made with the spun yarn may have pre-wash softness that makes it comfortable to wear.

HYBRID TIRE CORD AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THEREOF
