Buoyant containment and/or filtration
Embodiments disclosed here include a containment system and methods of containment which may include a segmented buoyant rim. Certain embodiments also include an inflatable rim with at least one inflation/deflation valve in the rim segments and ballast in the rim segments. Additionally, certain embodiments include material connected to the rim segments, to enclose a void created in the rim and to hang below the buoyant rim.
Oil skimmer with oleophilic coating
A method of fabricating an coating includes providing a coating comprising a base material. The base material is coated with an inorganic material using at least one of an atomic layer deposition (ALD), a molecular layer deposition (MLD), or sequential infiltration synthesis (SIS) process. The SIS process includes at least one cycle of exposing the coating to a first metal precursor for a first predetermined time and a first partial pressure. The first metal precursor infiltrates at least a portion of the base material and binds with the base material. The coating is exposed to a second co-reactant precursor for a second predetermined time and a second partial pressure. The second co-reactant precursor reacts with the first metal precursor, thereby forming the inorganic material on the base material. The inorganic material infiltrating at least the portion of the base material. The inorganic material is functionalized with a material.
FLOATING OCEANIC DEBRIS COLLECTION DEVICE AND COMPLEX FLOATING OCEANIC DEBRIS COLLECTION DEVICE
A floating oceanic debris collection device may include a circular base, a debris collection unit, and a debris storage unit. The debris collection unit may include a blade erected on an upper surface of the base and an arm extending in an outward direction to a rotation direction side. The debris storage unit may include an annular inner peripheral float installed on a lower surface of the base, an inlet penetrating a peripheral surface of the inner peripheral float, and an outlet penetrating the upper surface of the base. An entirety of the base may be configured to rotate via receiving wind on the sea with the blade. The arm may be configured to scrap debris floating on a sea surface inward. The inlet may be configured to introduce the debris to an inside. The outlet may be configured to facilitate removal of the debris from the debris storage unit.
Transportable modular system for emergency treatment of water polluted by liquid hydrocarbon spillage
A transportable modular system for emergency treatment of water polluted by liquid hydrocarbon spillage comprises: at least a first containerized treatment module, comprising a container in the form of a standard size intermodal container which houses a coalescence separator device, configured to operate an oil/water separation; a suction pipe having a first end connected to the coalescence separator device and a second end provided with an inlet connected to at least one floating skimmer; a pump positioned on the suction pipe; a water drain pipe and an oil drain pipe, connected to a water outlet and an oil outlet, respectively, of the coalescence separator device.
Filter apparatus for oil-water separation
The present disclosure relates to a filter apparatus for oil-water separation, and according to an embodiment of the present disclosure, when the filter apparatus for oil-water separation is mounted in a mixed fluid storage tank for storing a mixed fluid collected in seas or rivers in the event that an oil spill accident occurs, it is possible to drain off only water in the mixed fluid. In addition, it is possible to increase the storage efficiency of the mixed fluid storage tank by selectively draining and removing only water other than oil and impurities in the mixed fluid stored in the mixed fluid storage tank.
WATER-OIL SEPARATION DEVICE
A water-oil separation device uses a difference in density between water and oil. The water-oil separation device can easily and quickly separate oil by using a polymer film floating at interface between water and oil. The water-oil separation device easily and quickly collects oil of various viscosities with a simple structure by using differences in density between materials without using a conventional lyophilic/lyophobic film, thus solving the drawbacks of conventional filter-based and adsorption-based methods, and enabling quick and effective responses to actual oil spill situations.
A Device For Collecting Waste From Water
A device having a funnel structure (connected to a separating arrangement by a base pipe is disclosed. The base pipe is horizontal and arranged between the funnel structure and the base pipe. The base pipe is also a vertical suction pipe. The device includes a pressure pipe which is parallel to the base pipe. The funnel structure is slightly below the water surface. In operation, water and floating waste pass over the edges of the funnel structure and swirl into the suction pipe. A jet of water may be injected through the pressure pipe to the base pipe. A flow gradient may then be formed in the base pipe and the differently sized waste objects may separate. If the water contains liquid waste, the speed of the water jet may be adjusted in such a way that the liquid waste and water do not form an emulsion.
Adsorbent boom for the containment of contaminant spills
A system, method for forming, and a method of manufacturing a boom for the containment of contaminants is disclosed. The boom includes a cover and an adsorbent or absorbent material disposed within the cover. The adsorbent or absorbent material may be formed of one or more sheets of flexible fabric folded upon itself to form a convoluted structure within the elongated cover. Additionally, the material disposed within the elongated cover may form a non-cylindrical cross-section. The material may be at least partially a polyester material.
LIQUID FILTERATION SYSTEM
The present invention discloses a filtration system for treating untreated liquid such as greywater or any liquid that is contaminated with impurity and is required to be treated before use. The filtration system is a gravity fed liquid treatment system and includes components such as a top liquid tank for holding untreated liquid and a bottom liquid tank for holding treated liquid. The filtration system further includes one or more filtration media containers and filtration columns. Each filtration column is a composition of the stacked filtration media containers. The filtration system may be used for cleaning the contaminated water or keeping clear the surface of open water from oil or the like floating materials by separating or removing these materials from the water. The filtration system may include portable or detachable small-scale multistage treatment devices and may be implemented using household-type filters for producing potable filtration system.
System for the cleaning and removal of oily and floating substances from rivers, channels and stream in general
A system for cleaning rivers, channels and water courses in general includes floating modules, each having a cavity and an opening that puts the inside of the cavity in communication with the outer environment, and members that position the module so that the opening is at the height of the surface of a water body to be cleaned.
