VENTILATION SYSTEM FOR ROOF
20220170268 · 2022-06-02 ·

A roof vent and a roof structure are described. A roof vent can include a baffle with a cross-section where a first portion extends upward from a bottom plate and a second portion extends from the first portion to define a space between the bottom plate and the second portion. A roof structure may or may not have a roof deck, and comprises a plurality of roof cover elements with a radiant barrier layer underneath the top surfaces of at least some of the roof cover elements. In another embodiment, a roof structure may comprise more sheathing layer vent members than roof cover layer vent members. In yet another embodiment, a roof structure may comprise a layer of roof tiles with at least one vent member, the vent member comprising lateral end portions of a base member with a non-planar profile to engage a similar profile of an adjacent roof cover element.

This application relates to roof vents with diverters that prevent or reduce the likelihood that water or other debris can be driven through the vent by wind. For example, a roof vent can include a lower portion and an upper portion attached to the lower portion at an upslope edge, the upper portion angling away from the upslope edge to create a space therebetween. The roof vent can also include a front opening between the lower portion and the upper portion at a downslope edge of the upper portion to allow airflow into and out of the space. The roof vent can include a diverter positioned downslope of the front opening and attached to the lower portion for preventing or reducing the likelihood that water or other debris can be driven through the vent by wind.

Retrofit roof with a phase change material modulated climate space
11761211 · 2023-09-19 ·

A thermally modulating roof system wherein a minority of climate space between an existing and new roof is occupied by a phase change material assembly. The system maintains an industry standard of no more than a distance of about 4 inches between the roofs while still incorporating a substantial capacity to modulate an otherwise rising temperature of a facility during the day. Unique methods of installing the system, utilizing it and circulating air through the system to enhance performance are detailed.

Roof vent with an integrated fan

A roof vent member with an integrated fan assembly is disclosed. The fan assembly may be installed, removed, replaced, maintained, etc. from underneath the roof without having to get on the roof or otherwise disrupt the roof envelope. The roof vent may include a subflashing, the fan assembly, sealing elements, screens, and other features. A secondary roof vent member may be included which may include solar panels. Associated methods of using the vent members, such as installing, removing, and replacing the vent member or various components thereof, are further disclosed.

A concealed roof vent has a base member having a primary aperture, a top panel coupled to the rear side of the base member and extending to the front side of the base member at an increasing angle, the top panel sized so as to shield the primary aperture; the top panel being coupled to the front side of the base member using one or more support legs; and at least one secondary aperture on the front side between the panel and the base member. Air from the attic passes through the primary aperture to the secondary aperture, through channels on the underside of roofing tiles, and to the atmosphere.

ROOF VENT FOR SUPPORTING A SOLAR PANEL

A roof vent for supporting a solar panel is provided. The roof vent includes a vent member and a solar panel support element. The vent member is sized and shaped to mimic the appearance of a roof cover element. The vent member includes an upper portion and a lower portion, the upper portion separated from the lower portion by a gap. The solar panel support element is attached to the vent member.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR BUILDING PANELS WITH PATTERNED EDGE FOR MOISTURE DRAINAGE AND AIR VENTILATION

A building panel for ventilation and drainage includes a rear surface, a front surface, and a patterned edge spanning from the rear surface towards the front surface that, when the building panel is mounted at a substrate, creates a ventilation and drainage path between the building panel and the substrate. The front surface may have a drainage element thereon such that, when an additional building panel is installed and overlaps the building panel, the drainage element creates a ventilation and drainage path between the building panel and the additional building panel. The front surface may be a front surface of a first panel portion and the rear surface may be a rear surface of a second panel portion.

This application relates to ventilation systems, more particularly to roof ventilation systems that help to protect buildings against fires. The roof vent has an ember impedance structure that impedes the entry of flames and embers or other floating burning materials while still permitting sufficient air flow to adequately ventilate a building. Several configurations of vents employing baffle members and fire-resistant mesh material are described, which can substantially prevent the ingress of floating embers and flames.
