PASSIVE TUBULAR CONNECTION GUIDE
20230003090 · 2023-01-05 ·

A guide mechanism may include a first jaw and a second jaw pivotably coupled to the first jaw. The jaws may include a guide having a bottom pocket for seating arrangement on a box end of a first tubular and a top funnel for laterally guiding a pin end of a second tubular into the box end. The guide mechanism may also include a linkage system secured to the first and second jaws to control pivoting motion of the jaws. The guide mechanism may also include a bias mechanism coupled to the linkage system and configured to impart a biasing force on the jaws via the linkage system. The biasing force may be adapted to resist opening of the jaws such that opening of the jaws occurs when a lateral force is applied to the guide mechanism that overcomes the biasing force.

UTILITY PIPE INSTALLATION PROTECTION SYSTEM
20220403703 · 2022-12-22 ·

A system for monitoring installation of a utility product pipe within an underground borehole and detecting any issues with the installation process. The system utilizes one or more sensors to measure a parameter concerning the product pipe as the product pipe is pulled into the borehole, and one or more sensors to measure a parameter concerning the drill string as the drill string is pulled out of the borehole. The measured parameters are compared and analyzed to determine if any damage is likely to occur to the product pipe if the installation operation is not stopped and any issues remedied prior to continuing operation.

Methods and Apparatus for providing a plug activated by cup and untethered object
20220389789 · 2022-12-08 ·

A plug assembly includes an expandable assembly, a locking ring and a cup. The expandable assembly is adapted to be deformed radially over the locking ring and the cup. The locking ring has a stopping inner surface. The plug assembly is used with one or more untethered objects, the untethered objects having an outer surface adapted to couple with the cup, and the cup having an outer surface adapted to couple with the stopping inner surface of the locking ring. The combination of cup and untethered objects is also adapted to contact an inner surface of the plug assembly and, using well fluid pressure, to apply forces to the plug assembly. The forces cause the longitudinal movement of the cup and untethered objects while contacting the inner surface of the plug assembly until the cup contacts the stopping inner surface of the locking ring.

SPIDERS CAPABLE OF HANDLING WELL COMPONENTS OF MULTIPLE SIZES
20230053471 · 2023-02-23 ·

A spider for handling/gripping well components of various sizes can include multiple slip assemblies distributed circumferentially about a central axis, each slip assembly including a slip carrier radially displaceable relative to the central axis, a slip displaceable relative to the slip carrier, and a slip actuator operable to displace the slip relative to the slip carrier, the slip actuator being disposed at least partially internal to the slip carrier. Each slip assembly may include a slip carrier actuator that radially displaces the slip carrier. A table assembly may mount to a well rig with an upper surface of the table assembly being flush with a rig floor of the well rig. Another spider can include a pipe guide assembly with multiple guides and guide actuators. Each guide actuator rotates a respective one of the pipe guides about a respective guide axis that is parallel to the central axis.

A pipe handling apparatus, for handling drill tubes on a drilling platform, has an upper guide member 100 comprising a retention head mounted on an arm. The arm can extend telescopically so as to position it to allow the retention head to engage a drill tube for placement in and removal from a rack 230.

METHOD FOR ATTACHING A CONTROL LINE CLAMP

A control line clamp includes a clamping element for retaining one or more control lines alongside a pipe; a first collar; and a second collar. The clamping element is arranged to be attached to the pipe by positioning the first and second collars around the pipe on opposing sides of the clamping element and moving the first and second collars relatively towards each other in an axial direction.

Pipe handling system and method

A pipe racking system including two mechanical arms to move pipe stands to a dedicated position on a rig floor wherein at least one mechanical arm is connected to a mast of a drilling rig. A method to move a drilling rig comprising: providing a pipe racking system with two mechanical arms connected to the mast of the drilling rig; folding the pipe racking system onto the mast of the drilling rig; and transporting the drilling rig without disassembling the pipe racking system from the mast.
