The method may comprise introducing a treatment fluid into a wellbore by way of a conduit; directing ultrasound pulses into the treatment fluid; measuring sound waves reflected by the treatment fluid; and determining a velocity profile of the treatment fluid based at least on the measured sound waves.

In another mode, the flow control device enables the hydrocarbons to be produced from the subterranean formation to the surface. The flow control device includes a piston disposed between a housing and a mandrel having aligned ports, which slides between a first position where one set of ports align with the ports in the housing and the mandrel and a second position where another set of smaller ports align with the ports in the housing and mandrel. The piston is operated by a bellows having a chamber which contains a fluid. The fluid responds to temperature and/or pressure variations.

In some embodiments, seal failure within a pump can be monitored via a drain port that would receive drilling fluid leaking past a seal during operation of the pump. A discharge valve can be provided between an inlet and an outlet of the mud pump to reduce the load on pump components during start-up. Additional systems, devices, and methods are also disclosed.

The method includes defining a visualization tool including a boundary defined by the drilling parameters, where the boundary depicts an optimal rate of penetration (ROP). The method includes displaying the visualization tool with the optimal ROP, where the optimal ROP defines a maximum ROP for optimal wellbore cleaning based on the drilling parameters. The method includes displaying an actual rate of penetration (ROP) with respect to the optimal ROP on the visualization tool. The method further includes adjusting the actual ROP to match the optimal ROP.
