DRILLING CONTROL

A method can include receiving sensor data; determining a rate of penetration drilling parameter value using a trained neural network and at least a portion of the sensor data; and issuing a control instruction for drilling a borehole using the determined rate of penetration drilling parameter value.

Stall Control System for Raise Drills and Raise Boring Machines

A stall control system for a raise boring machine is provided. In one implementation, the stall control system includes one or more hydraulic control valves connected to thrust cylinders of the raise boring machine to vent pressurize oil from a cap end of the thrust cylinders back to an oil tank or to a rod end of the thrust cylinders. In another implementation, the stall control system includes one or more hydraulic control valves connected to thrust cylinders of the raise boring machine to inject pressurized oil into a rod end of the thrust cylinders to increase pressure on the rod end of the thrust cylinders.

Anti-jam control system for mobile drilling machines

An anti-jam control system for mobile drilling machines is disclosed. The anti-jam control system may include a method for automatically clearing a jam during an automatic drilling mode of a mobile drilling machine including a drill bit mounted on a drill string. The method may include: monitoring a feed rate of the drill bit during the automatic drilling mode; and automatically initiating an anti-jam operation when the feed rate is below a predetermined feed rate threshold.

Method and system for optimizing field development

A method for optimizing a drilling roadmap may include identifying an optimal bottom hole assembly (BHA) setup and drilling parameters for a well located in a field. The BHA setup may be based on historical simulation data of the field and drilling roadmap information. The drilling roadmap information may include initial drilling instructions for implementing the drilling roadmap. The method may include implementing and tracking the drilling roadmap at the well. The drilling roadmap may be based on a location of the well on the field and a type of other applications being performed on the field. The method may include obtaining sensor collected data to determine an accuracy of implementation of the drilling roadmap. The accuracy may be determined based on a comparison between tracked drilling parameters and simulated drilling parameters.

Methods, systems, and media for controlling a toolface of a downhole tool

There is described a method of determining a reactive torque factor for use in controlling a toolface of a downhole tool. For each of one or more sliding operations, a change in a top drive position of a drive unit operable to rotate a drill string connected to the downhole tool is determined, a change in a toolface of the downhole tool is determined, and a change in a differential pressure is determined. Based on the change in the top drive position, the change in the toolface, and the change in the differential pressure, a reactive torque factor is determined.
