The deformable portion includes a contact surface and an opposite surface. The protrusion portion protrudes from at least one of the open surface of the support portion and the opposite surface of the deformable portion.

Intercooled cooling air with auxiliary compressor control

A gas turbine engine includes a main compressor section with a downstream most location. A turbine section has a high pressure turbine. A tap line is connected to tap air from a location upstream of the downstream most location in the main compressor section. The tapped air is connected to a heat exchanger and then to a cooling compressor. The cooling compressor compresses air downstream of the heat exchanger, and is connected to deliver air into the high pressure turbine. A bypass valve is positioned downstream of the main compressor section, and upstream of the heat exchanger. The bypass valve selectively delivers air directly to the cooling compressor without passing through the heat exchanger under certain conditions.

A turbocharger is used within a vehicle and includes an electronic actuator assembly. The electronic actuator assembly includes an actuator housing coupled to at least one of the turbine housing, the compressor housing, and the bearing housing, and an accelerometer coupled to the actuator housing. The accelerometer is adapted to detect vibration of at least one of the turbine housing, the compressor housing, the bearing housing, and the actuator housing thereby obtaining acceleration data of at least one of the turbine housing, the compressor housing, the bearing housing, and the actuator housing to determine rotational speed of the turbocharger shaft. Another embodiment includes a vibration detection assembly having an accelerometer coupled to a vehicle component and the vehicle component is one or more of a turbocharger, a valve assembly, an electronically driven compressor, and a turbocharger having an integral electric motor.

An aircraft engine, has: a duct having an inlet, an outlet, and a bleed port through a wall of the duct; a bleed conduit stemming from the duct; a first valve connected to the bleed conduit and having an open configuration and a closed configuration; and a second valve connected to the bleed conduit upstream of the first valve and at or proximate the bleed port, the second valve having a second open configuration and a second closed configuration, when in the second closed configuration, the second valve blocking fluid communication between the bleed port and the first valve such that a portion of the bleed conduit between the first valve and the second valve is fluidly isolated from the duct, the second valve being in the second open configuration when the first valve is in the open configuration.

A turbocharger for a combustion engine has an adjusting device for matching its operating behavior to the operating behavior of the combustion engine, an actuating actuator, and a transmission element. The transmission element is coupled between the actuating actuator and the adjusting device. The transmission element has a one-part component body, which in each case extends from a first coupling point to a second coupling point along a longitudinal axis and, in each of its end regions, has a coupling element for coupling to the actuating actuator and to the adjusting device. The respective coupling element is designed as an integral part of the component body in the form of a ball receptacle of a ball joint connection in the component body.

The housing is mounted to the snorkel. The housing includes an inner wall, an outer wall, a side wall, a settling chamber, and an outlet tube. The inner wall is adjacent the snorkel. The outer wall is opposite the inner wall. The side wall extends from the inner wall to the outer wall. The settling chamber is within the side wall between the inner wall and the outer wall. The settling chamber is fluidly coupled with the open end. The outlet tube extends through the housing from the settling chamber to an exterior of the housing.

Turbocharger waste gate poppet valve connected to rotary valve shaft by arm and retaining ring

A waste gate assembly for a turbocharger includes a valve member formed by a valve shaft and an arm attached to an end of the shaft, the arm defining a through bore, an inner surface of the through bore defining an arm groove therein. A poppet for the valve has a pin whose outer surface defines a pin groove. A generally polygonal retaining ring of elastically deformable wire is installed partially in the arm groove and partially in the pin groove to retain the poppet on the pin, thereby attaching the poppet to the arm of the valve member. An anti-rotation feature prevents relative rotation of the poppet about the pin axis. Vertices of the retaining ring are in the arm groove, while sides of the retaining ring are in the pin groove. Once the retaining ring is pre-installed in the arm groove of the arm, the arm can be assembled to the poppet by a push-to-connect process.
