Fluid drain system for an aircraft propulsion system
An assembly is provided for an aircraft propulsion system. This assembly includes a first drain tube, a second drain tube, a container and a gas tube. The container fluidly couples the first drain tube to the second drain tube. The container is configured to receive fluid from the first drain tube. The gas tube is fluidly coupled with the container. The gas tube is configured to direct gas into the container for propelling the fluid received within the container into the second drain tube.
Modulated turbine component cooling
Features and methods for modulating a flow of cooling fluid to gas turbine engine components are provided. In one embodiment, an airfoil is provided having a flow modulation insert for modulating a flow of cooling fluid received in a cavity of a body of the airfoil. In another embodiment, a shroud is provided comprising a cooling channel for a flow of cooling fluid and an insert that varies in position to modulate the flow of cooling fluid through the cooling channel. In yet another embodiment, a method for operating a gas turbine engine having a cooling circuit for cooling one or more components of the gas turbine engine comprises increasing power provided to the engine and decreasing power provided to the engine to modulate a position of a flow modulation insert located in the cooling circuit and thereby modulate the flow of cooling fluid through the cooling circuit.
Method for installing a gas turbine assembly on a foundation, and gas turbine assembly
A method for installing a gas turbine assembly of a first type at a position of an existing power plant where previously a gas turbine assembly of a second type was installed on a foundation specially designed for said second type. The gas turbine assembly includes at least one housing, a compressor, a combustion chamber, a gas turbine, and a plurality of venting and removal lines guided along the exterior of the housing. Modifications to the venting and/or removal lines of the gas turbine assembly of the first type are carried out in a first step, and the modified gas turbine assembly is installed on the existing foundation in a second step.

Turbine airfoil
Provided is a turbine airfoil including: a cooling passage that allows a cooling medium to move from a base part side to a tip end part side in an airfoil height direction; a lattice structure including rib sets stacked in a lattice pattern in the cooling passage; inverting portions at opposite side edge portions of the lattice structure, each being open at a side edge portion and allowing the cooling medium to be inverted from a lattice flow passage defined between ribs of one rib set to a lattice flow passage defined between ribs of another rib set; and a communication flow passage defined between one side edge portion of the lattice structure and a side wall surface of the cooling passage, the communication flow passage extending in the airfoil height direction to communicate a plurality of lattice flow passages at the one side edge portion.
INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE SYSTEM
An internal combustion engine, ICE, system, includes a turbocharger having a turbine and a compressor for compressing intake air and feeding the intake air to the ICE. A turbo turbine unit is disposed in an exhaust gas path downstream the turbocharger to receive exhaust gas from the turbocharger. The turbo turbine unit having a turbine wheel, a bearing housing defining an inside volume for containing lubrication oil, and a sealing arrangement positioned in the vicinity of the turbine wheel for preventing lubrication oil from escaping from the inside volume of the bearing housing to an exhaust duct of the turbo turbine unit. A buffer air conduit extends between a selected position at the compressor and a buffer air inlet of the turbo turbine unit. The buffer air inlet is in fluid communication with a buffer air channel inside the turbo turbine unit to direct buffer air to a position in-between axially opposite arranged annular sealing members to provide a counter-pressure against at least one of the annular sealing members.
