A method for providing a power supply for at least one electrically heatable catalyst of a motor vehicle situated in an exhaust gas tract, wherein the motor vehicle comprises a first battery, by means of which a first voltage U.sub.1 is generated, and a second battery, by way of which a second voltage U.sub.2 is generated, wherein the at least one catalyst during a start phase immediately following the start of an internal combustion engine of the motor vehicle is supplied by a power P.sub.1 provided by the first battery such that the voltage U.sub.1 of the first battery is imposed on the at least one catalyst, wherein the at least one catalyst is additionally supplied during the start phase by a power P.sub.2 provided by the second battery such that the voltage U.sub.2 of the second battery is transformed by a DC converter to the value of the voltage U.sub.1 which is imposed on the at least one catalyst.
Catalytic converter
A catalytic converter includes at least one heating element that is configured to disrupt the direction of flow of exhaust gases which contain harmful toxic gases and pollutants and aid in removing and/or reducing said toxic gases and pollutants.
Diesel engine
Provided is a diesel engine capable of regenerating a DPF even during no-load and/or light-load operation. In a DPF regeneration process, opening-degree reduction control S2 for an exhaust-air throttle valve is performed after a start condition S1 of the regeneration process of the DPF in which PM is deposited is satisfied. When exhaust air reaches a temperature equal to or higher than a predetermined after-injection permissible temperature TA, after-injection control is subsequently started S5. Post-injection control is started S7 after the exhaust air reaches a temperature equal to or higher than a predetermined post-injection permissible temperature TP by combustion of after-injection fuel. The PM deposited in the DPF is incinerated by the exhaust air increased in temperature by catalytic combustion of post-injection fuel in a valve downstream-side DOC.
CONTROL APPARATUS FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
A control apparatus for an internal combustion engine includes an electronic control unit. The electronic control unit is configured to: execute increasing a temperature of an exhaust gas control apparatus at a second temperature increase speed as a regeneration control when the temperature of the exhaust gas control apparatus is in a second temperature range; control the temperature of an exhaust gas control apparatus during an idle operation so as to be equal to or smaller than the temperature of the exhaust gas control apparatus when the internal combustion engine enters an idle operation state as a temperature increase suppression control when the temperature of the exhaust gas control apparatus during a regeneration control is in the second temperature range and the internal combustion engine is in the idle operation state.
EXHAUST SYSTEM AND FEATURES THEREOF
An exhaust system that includes a catalytic converter, selective catalytic reduction system, a muffler and, for certain applications, a diesel particulate filter that each include at least one filter that has an electric heating element, a metallic coating and a plurality of metal rods extending therethrough. The combination of elements are configured to heat the internal housings of the exhaust system and disrupt the direction of flow of exhaust gases which contain harmful toxic gases and pollutants and aid in removing and/or reducing said toxic gases and pollutants.
Heater diagnostics in heavy-duty motor vehicle engines
A heavy duty truck includes a diesel engine, an exhaust after-treatment system, and an engine control unit. The exhaust after-treatment system may include one or more selective catalytic reduction systems, each with a respective heater, and each heater with a respective pair of temperature sensors, one upstream and the other downstream of the heater. Such systems may be used to perform diagnostic methods including populating a lookup table having heat energy supplied to an exhaust gas stream by the diesel engine as a first independent variable, heat energy supplied to the exhaust gas stream by a heater as a second independent variable, and a resulting temperature as an output. Such a lookup table can be used to maintain a temperature of the exhaust gas flow at a constant target temperature.
METHOD FOR OPERATING AN EXHAUST GAS BURNER
A method for operating an exhaust gas burner (3) downstream of an internal combustion engine (1) and upstream of an exhaust gas catalytic converter (4), comprising controlling an ignition device (12) of the exhaust gas burner (3) during a predeterminable preheating phase without supplying fuel (11) to the exhaust gas burner (3) during the preheating phase and, after completion of the preheating phase, supplying fuel (11) to the exhaust gas burner (3) and burning the supplied fuel (11) in the exhaust gas burner (3). A processor unit and a computer program product for carrying out such a method are furthermore proposed.
Systems and methods for managing catalyst temperature based on location
Systems and apparatuses include a controller including at least one processor coupled to a memory storing instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, causes the controller to: determine a set of emission regulations based on a location of a vehicle; determine a target temperature of a catalyst of an aftertreatment system of the vehicle in response to the determined set of emission regulations; compare a current temperature of the catalyst to the determined target temperature; and in response to the current temperature of the catalyst being below the determined target temperature, provide a thermal management command to increase the catalyst temperature toward the determined target temperature.
Exhaust gas treatment device and exhaust gas treatment method
An exhaust gas treatment device includes an exhaust gas line through which a combustion exhaust gas discharged from a power generation facility flows, a waste heat recovery boiler recovering waste heat of the combustion exhaust gas, a branch exhaust gas line provided to be connected between a front stage and a downstream stage of the waste heat recovery boiler on a main exhaust gas line, a nitrogen oxide removal unit removing nitrogen oxide in an integrated combustion exhaust gas into which a combustion exhaust gas flowing through the main exhaust gas line and a combustion exhaust gas flowing through the branch exhaust gas line are integrated, an integrated waste heat recovery boiler recovering waste heat of the integrated combustion exhaust gas from which nitrogen oxide has been removed, and a CO.sub.2 recovery unit recovering CO.sub.2 in the integrated combustion exhaust gas.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR MANAGING CATALYST TEMPERATURE BASED ON LOCATION
Systems and apparatuses include a controller including at least one processor coupled to a memory storing instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, causes the controller to: determine a set of emission regulations based on a location of a vehicle; determine a target temperature of a catalyst of an aftertreatment system of the vehicle in response to the determined set of emission regulations; compare a current temperature of the catalyst to the determined target temperature; and in response to the current temperature of the catalyst being below the determined target temperature, provide a thermal management command to increase the catalyst temperature toward the determined target temperature.
