ELECTRONIC FUEL INJECTION TYPE DIESEL ENGINE

An electronic fuel injection type diesel engine enables reduction in engine size. The electronic fuel injection type diesel engine is provided with: a combustion chamber inside a cylinder; a fuel injection chamber inside a cylinder head; a fuel injector that injects liquid fuel into the fuel injection chamber; a fuel accumulation unit that accumulates the liquid fuel injected from the fuel injector; and an electronic control unit that controls a timing and an amount of injection of the liquid fuel.

PRE-CHAMBER TYPE DIESEL ENGINE

Provided is a pre-chamber type diesel engine wherein the fuel system is not complicated, regardless of whether a regeneration function is provided. An injector is employed, which is able to inject fuel at a given timing by means of an electrical signal from a controller, and when a prescribed amount of particles have been trapped in a particle collection filter the injector carries out an additional fuel injection during the expansion stroke of a piston.

In one aspect, an engine ignition apparatus for a natural gas engine may include a housing including a drive piston, a floating piston, a controllable hydraulic fluid chamber located between the drive piston and the floating piston, and an ignition chamber acted on by the floating piston, the ignition chamber having an outlet formed by a plurality of orifices, the outlet being in direct communication with a combustion chamber of the engine. In another aspect, an engine ignition apparatus for a natural gas engine may include, among other features, a controllable valve connected to a hydraulic fluid chamber, and configured to open and release a hydraulic fluid from the hydraulic fluid chamber, and to close. In still another aspect, a method for controlling an engine ignition apparatus for an engine includes, among other features, controlling a volume of a hydraulic fluid chamber of an ignition apparatus.

Diesel engine with turbulent jet ignition

A diesel engine employs a turbulent jet ignition system and method. In another aspect, diesel fuel and air are premixed prior to introduction of the mixture into a main engine combustion chamber. A further aspect employs a turbocharger compressor to boost air pressure into a main piston combustion chamber and/or an ignition pre-chamber for missing with a heavy fuel, such as diesel.

Provided is a pre-chamber type diesel engine in which fuel injected from an injector mixes satisfactorily with air in a pre-combustion chamber. An injector injects fuel so as to be dispersed in a direction orthogonal to a vortex flow of air formed inside a pre-combustion chamber.

PRE-CHAMBER TYPE DIESEL ENGINE

Provided is a pre-chamber type diesel engine in which fuel injected from an injector mixes satisfactorily with air in a pre-combustion chamber. A corner space section, in which a forced vortex is formed by a flow of air advancing into a pre-combustion chamber from a main combustion chamber via a connecting hole during the compression stroke of a piston, is provided at a prescribed position between the line of extension of the connecting hole and the wall surface of the pre-combustion chamber.

SUBCHAMBER DIESEL ENGINE

Provided is a subchamber diesel engine having excellent thermal efficiency and capable of appropriately controlling the ignition timing of fuel supplied to a combustion subchamber. A subchamber diesel engine according to the present invention comprises a main combustion chamber and a combustion subchamber communicated with each other by a communication hole, the diesel engine including: an electrically driven injector for injecting fuel into the combustion subchamber at a random timing; a fuel passage pipe connected to a fuel inlet of the injector; a fuel pump for supplying fuel to the fuel passage pipe; an engine operating state detector for detecting an engine operating state; and a controller, wherein the controller performs a preliminary fuel injection in the first half of an intake stroke, performs a main injection during a compression stroke, and after the main injection, performs an ignition control injection near a compression top dead center.

GASOLINE INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE WITH ASSISTED COMPRESSION IGNITION

An internal combustion engine includes a combustion chamber with a cylinder head, a cylinder, and a piston. The internal combustion engine also includes at least one intake valve and at least one exhaust valve that are connected to the combustion chamber, a fuel injector that injects fuel into the combustion chamber, at least two ignition devices arranged in the combustion chamber, and control means that control the valves, the injector, and the ignition means. The control means operate the engine according to different combustion modes including a controlled ignition combustion mode, a compression ignition combustion mode, and an assisted compression ignition combustion mode. The control means activate the ignition means in the assisted compression ignition combustion mode.

GASOLINE INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE WITH ASSISTED COMPRESSION IGNITION

An internal combustion engine includes a combustion chamber with a cylinder head, a cylinder, and a piston. The internal combustion engine also includes at least one intake valve and at least one exhaust valve that are connected to the combustion chamber, a fuel injector that injects fuel into the combustion chamber, at least two ignition devices arranged in the combustion chamber, and control means that control the valves, the injector, and the ignition means. The control means operate the engine according to different combustion modes including a controlled ignition combustion mode, a compression ignition combustion mode, and an assisted compression ignition combustion mode. The control means activate the ignition means in the assisted compression ignition combustion mode.

Active pre-chamber jet-assisted H2 multi-mode combustion

The present disclosure is directed toward an engine system and a multi-mode combustion method for an internal combustion engine using hydrogen as a fuel. The engine system comprises a combustion system including a step-lipped piston bowl, a cover opposing the piston bowl, a hydrogen direct injector, and a radially asymmetrical pre-chamber partially opposite the lip of the piston bowl. The multi-mode combustion method includes injecting hydrogen and air a first time into the combustion system through the hydrogen direct injector, and jet igniting the fuel-air mixture in the combustion system. The injecting occurs during an intake stroke at low loads, and during a compression stroke at medium and high loads, Injecting hydrogen and air into the combustion system a second time via the hydrogen direct injector occurs either during or after jet-igniting, the hydrogen and air being at least partially ignited by compression.
