Two-Cylinder Reciprocating Engine
A two-cylinder reciprocating engine includes a cylinder block; a first cylinder with a combustion chamber; a second cylinder with a combustion chamber; a crankshaft coupled to the first cylinder and the second cylinder with a crank angle of 270 degrees; a first exhaust port connected with the combustion chamber of the first cylinder; a second exhaust port connected with the combustion chamber of the second cylinder; a first header connected with the first exhaust port; a second header connected with the second exhaust port; and an exhaust converging section connected with the first header and the second header, wherein the first header, the second header, and the exhaust converging section are in the cylinder block.
Exhaust manifold
An exhaust manifold for use with an internal combustion engine including a body, one or more fluid passageways defined by the body, and a valve in fluid communication with at least one of the one or more fluid passageways. The valve of the exhaust manifold being adjustable between an open configuration and a closed configuration. The exhaust manifold also includes an actuator in operable communication with the valve and configured to adjust the valve between the open and closed configurations, and a heat shield at least partially positioned between the actuator and the one or more fluid passageways.
MULTIPLE CYLINDER ENGINE
An internal combustion engine may include a first piston reciprocatingly disposed in a first cylinder, and a second piston reciprocatingly disposed in a second cylinder. A crankshaft may be coupled with the first piston and the second piston for rotational motion associated with reciprocating movement of at least one of the first piston and the second piston. A combustion chamber may be fluidly coupled with the first cylinder and the second cylinder. An intake valve may provide selective fluid communication between an intake system and the combustion chamber. The intake valve may be generally centrally disposed relative to the first cylinder and the second cylinder. An exhaust valve may provide selective fluid communication between an exhaust system and the combustion chamber. An ignition source may be at least partially disposed within the combustion chamber.
MULTIPLE CYLINDER ENGINE
An internal combustion engine may include a first piston reciprocatingly disposed in a first cylinder, and a second piston reciprocatingly disposed in a second cylinder. A crankshaft may be coupled with the first piston and the second piston for rotational motion associated with reciprocating movement of at least one of the first piston and the second piston. A combustion chamber may be fluidly coupled with the first cylinder and the second cylinder. An intake valve may provide selective fluid communication between an intake system and the combustion chamber. The intake valve may be generally centrally disposed relative to the first cylinder and the second cylinder. An exhaust valve may provide selective fluid communication between an exhaust system and the combustion chamber. An ignition source may be at least partially disposed within the combustion chamber.
Hub-hub connection for a power unit
The invention relates to a power unit, in particular for a hybrid vehicle, including a reciprocating-piston engine and at least one generator drivingly connected to the engine, wherein the engine has at least two pistons guided in at least two cylinders in a tandem arrangement, and two crankshafts, which are connected to the pistons by connection rods that run in opposite directions, and are mechanically coupled in the same phase. The engine includes a hub-hub connection with a first connection joining a first hub to a second hub such that an angular position between the first hub and the second hub is continuously adjustable on installation. The hub-hub connection also has a second connection in the form of a connection disk configured, dimensioned and arranged with support surfaces, on each of which the first hub and the second hub rest. The connection disk has a matrix with hard material elements embedded therein, in particular diamond chips, which are arranged in the support surfaces for frictional engagement of the hubs.
Engine
An engine is provided, which includes an engine body including a plurality of cylinders, each of the cylinders being provided with an intake port, an exhaust port, an intake valve, and an exhaust valve, an intake passage and an exhaust passage connected to the engine body, and a turbocharger including a turbine provided to the exhaust passage and a compressor provided to the intake passage. A geometric compression ratio of the cylinder is 11:1 or higher. An open period of the intake valve is a range of 270° or larger by a crank angle. The exhaust passage includes a plurality of independent exhaust passages, each communicating with the exhaust port of one cylinder or with the exhaust ports of two or more cylinders of which timings of exhaust strokes are discontinuous from each other, and connecting the engine body to the turbine.
Engine
An engine is provided, which includes an engine body including a plurality of cylinders, each of the cylinders being provided with an intake port, an exhaust port, an intake valve, and an exhaust valve, an intake passage and an exhaust passage connected to the engine body, and a turbocharger including a turbine provided to the exhaust passage and a compressor provided to the intake passage. A geometric compression ratio of the cylinder is 11:1 or higher. An open period of the intake valve is a range of 270° or larger by a crank angle. The exhaust passage includes a plurality of independent exhaust passages, each communicating with the exhaust port of one cylinder or with the exhaust ports of two or more cylinders of which timings of exhaust strokes are discontinuous from each other, and connecting the engine body to the turbine.
OUTBOARD MOTOR, INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE, AND MARINE VESSEL
An outboard motor to be attached to a hull of a marine vessel that reduces an amount of oil in blow-by gas reaching a breather chamber includes an internal combustion engine including a cylinder block including at least one cylinder. The cylinder block includes two blow-by gas flow paths to guide blow-by gas from a crank chamber to a breather chamber, and the internal combustion engine is oriented such that a crankshaft extends along a direction perpendicular or substantially perpendicular to a bottom of the hull when the marine vessel is sailing.
SUPERCHARGED ENGINE
A supercharged engine is provided, which includes an engine body having cylinders, an intake passage disposed outside the engine body and connected to the cylinders via intake ports, a supercharger provided in the intake passage and spaced apart from an intake-side side surface of the engine body, the intake-side side surface being connected to the intake passage, and a fuel pump disposed on the intake-side side surface. A portion of the intake passage constitutes an intervening part located between the supercharger and the engine body. The intervening part overlaps with the fuel pump in one of vertical and lateral directions of the engine body.
Engine with combustion chamber
An engine is provided, which includes a combustion chamber defined by a piston crown surface, an inner wall surface of a cylinder, and a pentroof ceiling surface formed in a cylinder head, and an ignition part of a spark plug disposed at the ceiling surface to achieve flame propagation combustion inside the combustion chamber. A cavity recessed in a spherical cap shape is formed in a central area of the crown surface. An opening of an intake port is formed in the ceiling surface (intake side) and an opening of an exhaust port is formed in the ceiling surface (exhaust side). When seen in a cross-sectional view taken along a cylinder axis, the ignition part is located above the cavity to be offset toward the exhaust side with respect to a cylinder axial line whereas a cavity center point is located to be offset toward the intake side.
