INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
An internal combustion engine includes an engine body defining a combustion chamber, an ignition device configured to ignite mixture in the combustion chamber, an operation device configured to receive a stop operation to stop the internal combustion engine, a controller configured to stop the ignition device from igniting the mixture in response to reception of the stop operation by the operation device, a carburetor configured to supply fuel to an intake passage that communicates with the combustion chamber, a switching valve provided in the intake passage, and an adjustment device configured to adjust an opening degree of the switching valve, wherein the adjustment device is configured to close the switching valve in conjunction with the reception of the stop operation by the operation device.
Idling-stop control apparatus
An idling-stop control apparatus includes an idling-stop controller and an auxiliary-machine controller. The idling-stop controller is configured to automatically stop an engine to cause the engine to be in a state in which idling is stopped in a case where a predetermined condition for stopping idling is satisfied and configured to automatically restart the engine in a case where a predetermined condition for restarting the engine is satisfied. The auxiliary-machine controller is configured to control a drive state of an auxiliary machine that is to be driven by the engine. The auxiliary-machine controller is configured to control the drive state of the auxiliary machine that is driven by the engine such that, in a case where the engine is automatically restarted from the state in which idling is stopped by the idling-stop controller, a time differential value of an engine speed of the engine is constant.
Carbon monoxide sensor for an engine assembly
An engine assembly includes an internal combustion engine and a carbon monoxide (CO) sensor unit. The CO sensor unit includes a CO sensor controller including a CO sensing circuit configured to detect a level of CO and a shutdown circuit. The shutdown circuit is configured to receive a detected level of CO and calculate a trailing window average of the detected level of CO. The trailing window average includes an average of the detected level of CO over a predetermined sampling window. The shutdown circuit is further configured to determine whether to initiate a shutdown of the internal combustion engine based on at least the calculated trailing window average and a predetermined trailing window average threshold and initiate the shutdown of the internal combustion engine based on determining that the trailing window average exceeds the predetermined trailing window average threshold.
Methods and system for starting an engine
Systems and methods for operating an internal combustion engine that is included in a hybrid vehicle are described. In one example, the internal combustion engine is operated in a two stroke mode during cold starting to increase mass flow to an electrically heated catalyst so that engine emissions may be reduced.
Multi-function engine control and input system
An assembly for an engine includes a control module including a controller operable to control at least certain aspects of the operation of the engine, a display including an input connected to the controller, and a wireless receiver connected to the controller. The wireless receiver is arranged to receive a signal from a wireless device to cause the controller to send an engine start signal to cause starting of the engine and wherein the input when actuated causes the controller to send an engine start signal to cause starting of the engine. In at least some implementations, no keyed ignition switch is provided to start the engine and the engine is started only via the wireless device or the input.
Vehicle control device with automatic engine stop function
In a vehicle control device with an automatic engine stop function, when the engine is in a non-operating state and the shift lever is operated to the parking range, the engine is controlled to start to supply operating oil to a valve timing changing means. The valve timing changing means is thereupon caused to change the intake valve close timing (IVC) to a predetermined advance angle position and subsequently locked thereat. The engine is then controlled to stop.
VEHICLE AND VEHICLE ENGINE START-UP CONTROL METHOD
A vehicle includes an engine, electric machine, starter-generator, and a controller. The engine and electric machine are each configured to propel the vehicle. The starter-generator is coupled to the engine and is configured to adjust engine speed during an engine start-up event. The controller is programmed to, in response to engine speed increasing towards a target speed during an engine start-up event, generate a target drag torque with the starter-generator to reduce overshoot of the target engine speed.
Start switch device
A start switch device includes a start button configured to send a command to start or stop a vehicle drive device, a biometric sensor arranged on the start button for reading a biometric information of an operator to operate an operating surface of the start button, a light source configured to emit an illuminating light from an inside of the start button toward the operating surface, and a design part arranged around the biometric sensor on the operating surface and configured to define a design on the operating surface by the illuminating light transmitted therethrough.
CAMERA BASED VEHICLE START-STOP FEATURE
A stop-start control system for a vehicle includes a camera disposed at the vehicle and having a field of view exterior and forward of the vehicle. A control includes an image processor operable to process image data captured by the camera. Responsive to image processing of captured image data, the control determines the presence of a stopping area ahead of the vehicle and being approached by the vehicle. Responsive to determination of the presence of the stopping area ahead of the vehicle and being approached by the vehicle, and responsive to determination that the driver of the vehicle releases the accelerator pedal of the vehicle so the vehicle is coasting toward the determined stopping area, the control causes the engine to at least partially shut off.
Power system that operates in an exercise mode based on measured parameters
A power system may include a power generation component and a sensor configured to measure a parameter. The power system may also include a controller in communication with the power generation component and the sensor. The controller may be configured to run the power generation component in an exercise mode for a duration. The duration may be based on the measured parameter.
