20220325686 · 2022-10-13 ·

An electric starter system (100) for a motorcycle with a mechanical kick-start device (200) and a transmission main shaft (340) which rotates in a starting and drive rotational direction (x) and the kick-start device (200) has a kick-start pinion configured for axial coupling to a kick-start clutch part (240) which is connected to the transmission main shaft (340) in a torque-transmitting manner. The electric starter system (100) comprises an electric starter motor (110) with a starter shaft pinion (112) that can be driven thereby, which makes it possible to carry out the installation or retrofitting thereof with fewer modifications of the original components, less expenditure of time, and/or easier, and/or faster. This is achieved because a torque of the electric starter motor (110) can be transmitted from the starter shaft pinion (112), preferably at the end face, to the kick-start clutch part (240), in particular via interposed starter gearing (120).

One of the at least first and second coils is configured to control driveshaft and ring gear engagement and the other one of the at least first and second coils is offset from the central longitudinal axis and configured to control an application of current to a motor disposed to drive rotation of a driveshaft of the vehicle.

Methods and system for positioning an engine

Systems and methods for positioning an engine during engine stopping and during vehicle activation are described. In one example, a belt integrated starter/generator rotates an engine before the engine is started to reduce engine starting time and determine engine position before the engine is started. The engine may be rotated to a first or second position based on a destination of the vehicle.

ENGINE STARTING APPARATUS

An apparatus for starting an engine, including a motor, an output shaft driven by the motor, a pinion provided along the output shaft, and an electro-magnetic solenoid device. The electro-magnetic solenoid device is configured to push the pinion axially toward a ring gear of the engine to mesh the pinion with the ring gear and transfer a rotational force, which is referred to as a motor torque, generated by energization of the motor from the pinion to the ring gear, thereby starting the engine. The apparatus is configured such that, at starting of the engine in its warmed-up state, the motor torque can continue to be applied from the pinion to the ring gear until at least the second compression stroke even when an engine speed varies.

Electromagnetic switch device for starter

An electromagnetic switch device for a starter includes a pinion-pushing solenoid for pushing out a pinion toward a ring gear of an engine by a plunger thereof, and a motor-energizing solenoid for energizing the motor. The electromagnetic switch device is configured to detect a magnetic flux change in a magnetic circuit of the motor-energizing solenoid due to displacement or deformation of a core of the motor-energizing solenoid caused when the plunger of the pinion-pushing solenoid abuts against a stopper, to determine a timing to start current supply to the motor-energizing solenoid.

Permanent Magnet Electric Machine

An interior permanent magnet electric machine includes a stator having a plurality of teeth disposed around a circumference oriented radially towards a center defining slots interposed between each of the teeth, and a conductive winding wrapped around each of the teeth of the stator to receive an electrical current. The electric machine also includes a rotor which is rotatable relative to the stator. The rotor defines a plurality of openings to receive permanent magnets near an outer portion of the rotor and a number of spokes interposed between mass reduction cutouts located closer to the center relative to the permanent magnets. Each of the permanent magnets defines a magnetic pole and each of the spokes is circumferentially aligned with one of the magnetic poles.

INTEGRATED STARTER-GENERATOR DEVICE WITH POWER TRANSMISSION

A combination engine starter and electric power generator device for a work vehicle has an electric machine and a gear set mounted to the electric machine. The gear set is configured to receive rotational input from the electric machine and from the work vehicle engine. The gear set mechanically couples the electric machine and the engine in first and second power flow directions in which in the first power flow direction the gear set effects a first gear ratio and in the second power flow direction the gear set effects a second gear ratio.

Apparatus and method for controlling engine clutch of hybrid vehicle

An engine clutch control apparatus of a hybrid vehicle is provided. The apparatus includes an engine clutch that is disposed between an engine and a drive motor to selectively connect the engine and the drive motor and an integrated starter-generator that is connected with the engine to start the engine or to generate electricity. A vehicle controller releases or couples the engine clutch to implement a driving mode and determines a chargeable torque and an engine target estimation torque based on a generator rotation speed of the integrated starter-generator. An engine target torque and a charge torque are set based on the chargeable torque and a clutch input torque is generated using at least one of the engine target torque, an engine friction torque, and the charge torque. The engine clutch is then released when the clutch input torque is less than a reference value.
