Tail cone ejector for power cable cooling system in a gas turbine engine
An ejector assembly for a cooling system of a gas turbine engine may comprise: a tail cone having a tail cone outlet in fluid communication with a cooling air flow of the cooling system; an ejector body defining a mixing section, a constant area section, and a diffuser section; and a nozzle section in fluid communication with an exhaust air flow of the gas turbine engine, the ejector assembly configured to entrain the cooling air flow via the exhaust air flow.
TURBINE ENGINE INDUCER ASSEMBLY
An apparatus and method for assembling an inducer assembly for inducing a rotation on an airflow passing within a turbine engine. The inducer assembly can provide a volume of fluid from a compressor section to a turbine section of the engine. The inducer assembly can include the combination of separate segments to form an annular inducer.
DUAL VALVE FLUID METERING SYSTEM
A flow metering system includes a pump configured to urge a fluid flow from a fluid source, and a recirculation line located at the pump. A pressure regulating valve is located along the recirculating line. One or more fluid delivery lines extend downstream of the pump to deliver the fluid flow to one or more fluid consumers. A flow control valve is located along each fluid delivery line of the one or more fluid delivery lines. A system controller is operably connected to the pressure regulating valve and the one or more flow control valves. The system controller is configured to maintain a selected delta pressure and a selected flow rate of the fluid flow by operation of the pressure regulating valve and the one or more flow control valves.
Buffer fluid delivery system and method for a shaft seal of a gas turbine engine
Systems and methods for delivering a buffer fluid to a shaft seal of a gas turbine engine are provided. An exemplary system includes, a buffer fluid source, one or more first conduits providing fluid communication between the buffer fluid source and the shaft seal along a first route, and one or more second conduits providing fluid communication between the buffer fluid source and the shaft seal along a second route different from the first route. A heat exchanger is also disposed along the first route to facilitate heat transfer between buffer fluid in the one or more first conduits and a cooling fluid.
EJECTION CONE HAVING A FLEXIBLE AERODYNAMIC ATTACHMENT
The invention relates to an assembly for an aircraft turbomachine, comprising a central element (1) for the ejection of gas, and a connecting flange (9) interposed between, upstream, a gas outlet (22a) made of metal for a turbomachine, and, at the downstream end, the central element (1). The connecting flange comprises an annular portion (9a) and flexible tabs (11) having axially: a first end (111a) where the tab is connected to the said annular portion, and a second free end (111b), projecting radially inwardly with respect to the first end and to which said tab is attached with the central element (1).
POWER AND EJECTOR COOLING UNIT
Power and cooling systems including a drive system, a power generation unit, and a cooled fluid generation unit. A primary working fluid that is expanded within a turbine of the drive system and compressed within compressors in a closed-loop cycle. The power generation unit includes a generator and a heat source configured to heat the primary working fluid prior to injection into the turbine. T cooled fluid generation unit includes an ejector downstream of the compressors and a separator arranged downstream of the ejector and configured to separate liquid and gaseous portions of the primary working fluid. The gaseous portion is directed to the compressors and the liquid portion is directed to an evaporator heat exchanger to generate cooled fluid.
Liquid fuel steam purge system and method for gas turbine engine
A system is provided with an ejector having an outer wall extending circumferentially about a flow path, wherein the outer wall has a throat section along the flow path, and a diverging section downstream from the throat section along the flow path. The ejector includes a gas inlet configured to supply a gas into the flow path, and a water inlet configured to supply water into the flow path. The ejector is configured to produce steam in response to mixing of the water and the gas along the flow path. The system also includes a controller configured to control flows of the gas and the water to produce the steam for a steam purge of a liquid fuel circuit.
GEARED GAS TURBINE WITH OIL SCAVENGE EJECTOR PUMP ASSIST
A gas turbine engine has a low pressure turbine driving a fan rotor through a gear reduction gearbox. The low pressure turbine has an input shaft driving a sun gear. The sun gear drives intermediate gears. There is an output shaft driven by one of a carrier and a ring gear in the gear reduction to in turn drive a fan drive shaft to drive the fan. A bearing compartment housing encloses the gear reduction gearbox. A fan shaft bearing supports the fan drive shaft. An oil supply system delivers oil to at least one of the sun gear, the intermediate gears and the ring gear. A scavenge system returns oil from the bearing compartment housing to a sump. An ejector pump communicates with a source of pressurized fluid to assist in driving oil from within the bearing compartment housing into a scavenge tube.
