System and method for inhibiting particulate and foreign object ingress in combustion systems
A method for inhibiting particulate ingress in a combustion system includes acquiring particulate ingress data, determining a probable particulate ingress location on an air inlet of the combustion system in dependence upon the particulate ingress data, and deploying a filter screen at the determined probable particulate ingress location to inhibit particulate ingress at the determined probable particulate ingress location.
Onboard heater of auxiliary systems using exhaust gases and associated methods
An exhaust energy recovery system (EERS) and associated methods for an engine are disclosed. An embodiment of an EERS, for example, includes an inlet duct that is configured to divert exhaust gas from an exhaust duct of the engine into the recovery system and an outlet duct configured to return the exhaust gas to the exhaust duct downstream of the inlet duct. The recovery system is configured to heat components or fluids associated with engine to operating temperatures. The recovery system may be part of a mobile power system that is mounted to a single trailer and includes an engine and a power unit such as a high pressure pump or generator mounted to the trailer. Methods of operating and purging recovery systems are also disclosed.
VACUUM PUMP
A vacuum pump is provided that can remove deposits without overhauling and also detect completion of removal of deposits. A cleaning function portion for a cleaning function that performs cleaning of a deposit in a vacuum pump and a deposition sensor for a deposition detection function that detects the deposit are provided. A reading circuit portion and a cleaning completion determination circuit portion for a cleaning completion determination function that determines completion of cleaning are provided. The cleaning completion determination circuit portion outputs a cleaning completion signal indicating completion of the cleaning, based on a detection result of the deposition sensor.
Filter element, systems, and methods
A gas turbine air intake system uses a filter element having a seal member with radial projections and radial recesses. The seal member forms a seal with components on the tube sheet of the system and at the end opposite of the tube sheet. At the end opposite of the tube sheet, there can be an assembly cover, or alternatively, an additional filter cartridge.
Blade having a rib for an engine and method of directing ingestion material using the same
A blade for an engine includes an airfoil body having a pressure side and a suction side, a base, and a rib located on the pressure side of the airfoil body. The rib includes a radially outer surface inclined radially outwardly with respect to the pressure side of the airfoil body and a scoop formed by the radially outer surface. The radially outer surface is inclined radially outward with respect to a normal axis to the pressure side of the airfoil body. The rib is angled at a positive angle with respect to the platform. An engine for and a method of directing ingestion material in an engine may employ the rib.
Inducer assembly for a turbine engine
A turbine engine having an inducer assembly. The inducer assembly includes a centrifugal separator fluidly coupled to an inducer with an inducer inlet and an inducer outlet. The centrifugal separator includes a body, an angular velocity increaser to form a concentrated-particle stream and a reduced-particle stream, a flow splitter, and an exit conduit fluidly coupled to the body to receive the reduced-particle stream and define a separator outlet.
Integrated lubricating fluid filtering and metering device
A lubrication system for an attritable engine includes a bearing chamber, a fluid filtering inlet configured to receive a fluid, and a fluid filtering outlet located downstream of the fluid filtering inlet and configured to deliver the fluid to the bearing chamber. The lubrication system also includes a lattice, integral and conformal with the attritable engine, configured to filter the fluid, and located between the fluid filtering inlet and the fluid filtering outlet. The lubrication system also includes a metering port, configured to meter the fluid and located downstream of the lattice and upstream of the fluid filtering outlet.
Gas supply system
A gas supply system is provided herein. The gas supply system includes a fuel oxygen reduction unit having a circuit defining a gas flowpath for a flow of a stripping gas. A reservoir is in selective fluid communication with the fuel oxygen reduction unit and is configured to store a portion of the stripping gas from the circuit. The reservoir is further configured to be in selective fluid communication with the fuel system component when installed in a vehicle to provide the stored portion of the stripping gas to the fuel system component in response to detection of a purge condition.
VACUUM PUMP
A vacuum pump which suppresses occurrence of deposition caused by an exhaust gas is obtained. The vacuum pump includes: a pump portion including a shaft portion, a rotor disposed on an outer peripheral side of the shaft portion, and a stator disposed on the outer peripheral side of the rotor; a channel of the exhaust gas from the pump portion to an outlet port; and a shielding portion which suppresses contact of the exhaust gas with the shaft portion in the channel. Further, an end portion of the shielding portion has a surface opposed to the rotor.
AIR FILTRATION SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR COMPRESSOR BLEED VALVE
Methods and systems for filtering pressurized air used to control a compressor bleed valve of a gas turbine engine are provided. One method comprises receiving the pressurized air in a conduit via an inlet of the conduit, releasing a first portion of the pressurized air out of the conduit via an outlet of the conduit, releasing a second portion of the pressurized air from the conduit via a port disposed between the inlet and the outlet of the conduit, directing the second portion of the pressurized air from the port to a filter along an upward flow path, filtering the second portion of the pressurized air using the filter, and directing the second portion of the pressurized air from the filter toward the compressor bleed valve.
