A structural screw usable in multiple different substrates/materials includes a head end, a shank and a tapered end, the head end including a tool engaging part, the head end located at a first end of the shank and the tapered end located at a second end of the shank. A thread is formed along the shank, wherein the thread begins on the tapered end, extends onto the shank and terminates at a first axial location along the shank that is spaced from the head end. The thread (i) is a multiple start thread formed by at least a first helical thread and a second helical thread and/or (ii) includes a thread angle of between fifteen degrees and thirty degrees. The screw may also include a reaming section with leading and trailing wedge sections and/or an asymmetric notch pattern along at least part of the thread edge.

TOOL ARRANGEMENT FOR APPLICATION AND/OR RELEASE OF NUT TYPE FASTENERS

Methods and devices for providing a threaded male member for a fastening arrangement are disclosed. The threaded male member can include at least one reaction portion at or towards at least one respective end of the threaded male member for use in reacting applied torque during tightening or releasing an associated nut of the fastening arrangement. The at least one reaction portion can be a permanent feature of the threaded male member and can remain part of the threaded male member after said tightening to a target torque.

A screw for particle board includes a head; a threaded shank; and a plurality of screw threads formed on the threaded shank. The head includes a slot on a top. The threaded shank is formed with the head and includes a shank and a tip at an end of the shank. The screw threads are formed on both the shank and the tip. The shank includes a plurality of longitudinal recesses and a plurality of longitudinal projections. Each recess is adjacent to each projection. Each screw thread is disposed between one of the recesses and the projection adjacent to the recess.

CONNECTING ELEMENT, IN PARTICULAR A BOLT OR A NUT, PREFERABLY FOR FASTENING A WHEEL, OR RIM, TO A HUB OF A VEHICLE
20170363129 · 2017-12-21 ·

A connecting element, preferably for fastening a wheel, or rim, to a hub of a vehicle, includes a body having a respective outer perimeter surface which extends along a respective imaginary profile, in particular an imaginary circular profile, there being formed, at the perimeter surface, respective elements for the engagement of corresponding elements or tool for screwing and/or unscrewing the connecting element, and screw thread elements for fastening, preferably to the vehicle hub. The engagement elements include a plurality of perpendicularly extending and circumferentially distributed engagement troughs which are recessed relative to the imaginary outer profile and each being separated from the adjacent trough by a respective outer perimeter transit zone. The outer transit zone has a width (r) which is less than the width (i) of the trough, and in particular, a width (r) which is less than half the width of the trough.

HIGH STRENGTH FASTENERS, DRIVERS, AND FASTENER SYSTEMS
20170363130 · 2017-12-21 ·

Fasteners, drivers, and fastener systems constructed wherein example fasteners have driver engageable surfaces on or within a shank tip of the fastener. Example embodiments are included where at least one of the installation and removal surfaces are configured to define a segment of a spiral. Some example embodiments are also included where the installation and removal drive surfaces intersect an enlarged core diameter in an inner transitional surface that extends between the installation and removal surfaces of adjacent wings. Embodiments include fasteners with installation and removal drive surfaces on or within a shank tip of fasteners.

SCREW-TYPE FASTENER

A screw includes at least one helical thread with a peripheral edge having notched regions spaced apart by notch-free regions. An underside of a head of the screw includes projecting nibs.

WORKPIECES FOR MAKING FASTENERS AND TOOLS

A mold, punch and workpiece are provided. In a preferred embodiment, a tapering outer edge is provided, along with a plurality of rib sets arranged circumferentially about the outer edge, and a ramp. A ramp may be located to facilitate the removal of burrs. Various slot patterns may be provided or formed, including star-shapes/Torx® slots. Using the present invention, a driver bit may be more securely fit to the slot of a screw, for example, allowing the screw to be threaded into a machined part more securely and smoothly, reducing rocking, shaking or tilt.
