SKIN-BONDED THREADED INSERTS, SANDWICH PANELS INCLUDING THE SAME, AND RELATED METHODS
20220371294 · 2022-11-24 ·

Skin-bonded threaded inserts may be installed within a sandwich panel by curing the insert in place as the sandwich panel is cured. Skin-bonded threaded inserts may include a collar that is transitioned between a raised position and a compressed position during installation of the skin-bonded threaded insert in the sandwich panel, due to compression of the sandwich panel during curing. Skin-bonded threaded inserts may include one or more flanges that engage one or more skins of the sandwich panel. Such flanges may be positioned between two skins, or between the core and a skin of the sandwich panel to secure the sandwich panel in place within the sandwich panel. Skin-bonded threaded inserts may be positioned within a sandwich panel without the use of potting compound and may engage with the skins of the sandwich panel, rather than relying on adherence to the core for sufficient pull-out and shear strength.

FASTENER AND SHIELD UNIT

A support component that supports a shielding member, and a fixing component that fixes the shielding member to the structure via the support component. The support component has a cylindrical part, two flange parts and spring part. The spring parts have a first spring and a second spring with different load-deflection characteristics. The first spring and the second spring are interposed between each of the two flange parts and both sides of the shielding member. As a result, the invention provides a sufficient buffering effect.

Fastener installation

A method for installing a fastener system. A position on a structure relative to an overhang on the structure is automatically sensed for installing a fastener system in a hole using an offset collar installer. The offset collar installer is moved about a rotation axis to the position such that a collar in the fastener system is held in the position over the hole. The offset collar installer is connected to a platform and rotatable about the rotation axis. The collar is fastened to an engagement feature for a bolt in the hole.

Fastener structure

A fastener structure is provided, including a hollow sleeve, a rod body, and a hook assembly. The hollow sleeve is assembled on a first plate, and the rod body is inserted into the hollow sleeve. The hook assembly is rotatably assembled on the first plate, and includes a hook component and an elastic component. The hook component is adapted for being fastened to a positioning opening portion of a second plate, where a first side of the rod body is adapted to lean against the hook component. A first end of the elastic component leans against the first plate, and a second end of the elastic component is fixed on the hook component.

Hidden fastener unit and related method of use

A fastener unit and related method for securing a board to a support is provided. The fastener unit includes a spacer block, a grip element extending from the spacer block and configured to fit in and engage a groove of the board, and one or more board engagement elements extending from a portion of the spacer block. The board engagement elements can clamp the board, between an upper and/or lower surface of the board and a groove of the board, thereby securing the spacer block in a position adjacent the groove to establish a gap between the board and another board. Related methods of use also are provided.

Box nut retainer

A first example box nut retainer includes a support, a fastener sleeve, and a resilient arm. The fastener sleeve defines an opening and extends downwardly from the support. The resilient arm extends upwardly and outwardly relative to the fastener sleeve toward the support.

Load Controlling Bolted Flange Deformable Spacers

Deformable spacers and spacer assemblies absorb energy when flange bolts are subjected to compressive axial loads by plastically deforming, failing in shear, rupturing or in a combination of failure modes so the flange bolts and the flanges connected thereby are not damaged. One deformable spacer may have a hollow cylindrical body with a plurality of elongated slots there through. Another deformable spacer may have an annular stiffener extending inwardly from an inner surface of a hollow cylindrical body. A spacer assembly may include an inner cylindrical body, and outer cylindrical body, and an annular shoulder extending from one of the bodies and engaged by the other body shears when a shear failure load is applied to the flange bolt. Another spacer assembly may include an annular belt around a cylindrical body so that the belt will rupture before the cylindrical body plastically deforms.

Twist-in-place grommet connection assembly

A connection assembly adapted for receipt of a male connection member at the interior of a grommet. The connection assembly includes a grommet of hollow construction including a first collar and a second non-circular collar disposed in spaced-apart relation from the first collar. An axial bore extends entirely through the grommet. A sleeve insert including a hollow stem extends into the axial bore so as to at least partially line the axial bore. A complementary retaining panel includes a substantially non-circular access opening adapted to receive the second collar in pass-through relation and to block the first collar against insertion. Upon rotation, the grommet is blocked against withdrawal through the access opening and the retaining panel is held securely in place.

Fastening arrangement

A motor vehicle may have a cylindrical component having two grooves aligned orthogonally to a cylinder axis, recessed into local areas of a lateral surface, and running parallel to each other, and a blind hole in an end of the cylindrical component. A fastening component for the cylindrical component may include a holding device having a U-shaped socket and a head portion having a through opening. The holding device may be matched to the cylindrical component in such a way that the cylindrical component is positively insertable via the two grooves into the U-shaped socket until the blind hole in the end is in alignment with the through opening in the head portion of the holding device. The fastening arrangement may also have a fastening element that is insertable and screwable through the through opening in the head portion into the blind hole in the cylindrical component.
