A nutational cycloidal reducer reduces an input speed to an output speed by a reduction ratio. The reducer includes a timing ring having an internal wall with a series of longitudinally extending tooth profiles, an output connected to the timing ring, a pulley having a central opening, a series of longitudinally extending tooth profiles and a plurality of circumferentially disposed pin bores. An input shaft has first and second shaft portions. The first portion is concentric with a longitudinal axis and the second portion is eccentric to the axis. A plate has a central opening. The pulley is positioned in the timing ring with some of the pulley and timing ring tooth profiles engaged with each other. The second shaft portion is positioned in the pulley and the plate and drives the pulley in a nutational movement. The pulley has one or more less tooth profiles than the timing ring, such that the reduction ratio is defined by # of timing ring tooth profiles/(# of timing ring tooth profiles−# of pulley tooth profiles).

An article of manufacture comprises a first component having a first mating surface and a second component having a second mating surface. The first component may include an aperture having internal splines or gear teeth, and/or an outer perimeter having external splines or gear teeth. The first and second components are disposed such that a gap is provided between the first and second mating surfaces. Brazing material is disposed between the first and second mating surfaces so as to mechanically couple the first and second components. The first component may be made of a powdered metal or a non-powdered metal, and the second component may be made of the other of such two metals. In one embodiment, the first component may be a planetary carrier plate portion having internal splines and the second component may be a planetary carrier spider portion.

Provided are a transverse cycloidal-pin gear pair and a nutation deceleration device. The transverse cycloid-pin gear pair comprises a cycloidal gear with a cycloidal tooth flank and a pin gear with a pin tooth flank, the pin gear meshing with the cycloidal gear in a nutation transmission manner, wherein angles between reference surfaces of the pin gear and the cycloidal gear and corresponding axes are both between 88° and 91°, and a sum of the two angles is less than 180°; wherein portions of the pin tooth flank and the cycloidal tooth flank meshing therewith are pin gear working flank and cycloidal gear working flank, respectively. A pressure angle between the pin gear working flank and the cycloidal gear working flank when meshing satisfies 45°−β−5°≤α≤45°−β+5°, where α is the pressure angle, β is a friction angle between the pin gear working flank and the cycloidal gear working flank. The nutation deceleration device comprises a shell, a transverse cycloidal-pin gear pair disposed in the shell, an input mechanism for driving the cycloidal-pin gear pair to cause nutation motion, an output mechanism coupled to the cycloidal-pin gear pair, and a torque transfer component for transferring torque of the cycloidal-pin gear pair.

SPEED REDUCTION ASSEMBLY AND A VEHICLE THAT UTILIZES THE SPEED REDUCTION ASSEMBLY

A speed reduction assembly for an electric vehicle includes an electric machine configured to operate as a motor and as a generator. The electric machine includes an output shaft that is rotatable about a longitudinal axis at an output speed. The assembly also includes an output member coupled to the output shaft and rotatable about the longitudinal axis at a reduced speed. In addition, the assembly includes a pericyclic apparatus coupled to the output shaft and the output member to reduce the output speed of the output shaft to the reduced speed of the output member. A vehicle may include the speed reduction assembly in certain configurations. The vehicle includes a battery module and the electric machine is in electrical communication with the battery module to recharge the battery module when the electric machine operates as the generator.
