Torque converter with resolver rotor having angular and axial locking
A torque converter, including: a cover arranged to receive torque; a pump including a pump shell connected to the cover, and pump blades; a turbine in fluid communication with the pump and including a turbine shell and turbine blades; a stator including stator blades disposed between the turbine and the pump; a pump hub non-rotatably connected to the pump shell and including a first planar surface facing radially outward with respect to an axis of rotation; and a resolver rotor non-rotatably connected to the pump hub and including a second planar surface in contact with the first planar surface and facing radially inward with respect to the axis of rotation. The pump hub includes a protrusion extending radially outward from the first planar surface and in contact with the resolver rotor. The resolver rotor is arranged to determine a rotational position of the torque converter around the axis of rotation.
Connection interface for reaction plate in torque converter
A torque converter assembly is disclosed herein. The assembly can include a torque converter cover having a first axially extending flange, a reaction plate having a second axially extending flange, and a torque converter pump having a third axially extending flange. The first axially extending flange, the second axially extending flange, and the third axially extending flange are connected to each other via a single connection. In one aspect, the single connection comprises a weld.
Torque converter clutch system
A torque converter includes a front cover, an impeller having an outer shell non-rotatably connected to the front cover, and a turbine. A lock-up clutch is disposed axially between the front cover and the turbine. The lock-up clutch includes a piston axially displaceable and having a first opening extending from a first axial side facing the front cover to a second axial side facing the turbine. A seal ring is fixed to the front cover and sealed to the piston. A first fluid chamber is formed at least in part by the piston and the turbine, and a second fluid chamber is formed at least in part by the front cover, the seal ring, and the piston. A valve is connected to the piston and is configured to seal the first opening in response to a pressure difference in the first and second fluid chambers.
Torque converter with expanded radius cover and method thereof
A torque converter, including: an impeller supported for rotation around an axis of rotation and including an impeller shell and at least one impeller blade non-rotatably connected to the impeller shell; a cover arranged to receive a rotational torque and including a distal portion including an interior surface in contact with the impeller shell, and an expanded radius portion extending from the distal portion in an axial direction and including an interior surface facing at least partly in a radially inner direction pointing toward the axis of rotation; and a turbine in fluid communication with the impeller and including a turbine shell and at least one turbine blade non-rotatably connected to the turbine shell. The interior surface of the expanded radius portion is located further in a radially outer direction than the interior surface of the distal portion.
TORQUE CONVERTER WITH EXPANDED RADIUS COVER AND METHOD THEREOF
A torque converter, including: an impeller supported for rotation around an axis of rotation and including an impeller shell and at least one impeller blade non-rotatably connected to the impeller shell; a cover arranged to receive a rotational torque and including a distal portion including an interior surface in contact with the impeller shell, and an expanded radius portion extending from the distal portion in an axial direction and including an interior surface facing at least partly in a radially inner direction pointing toward the axis of rotation; and a turbine in fluid communication with the impeller and including a turbine shell and at least one turbine blade non-rotatably connected to the turbine shell. The interior surface of the expanded radius portion is located further in a radially outer direction than the interior surface of the distal portion.
Torque converter device, in particular for a drive train of a motor vehicle
A torque converter device for a drivetrain of a motor vehicle includes a converter cover having a cover shell and a hub rigidly connected to the cover shell. The torque converter device also includes at least one multidisk clutch, which includes at least one inner disk-centering member. The hub integrally forms the inner disk-centering member of the multidisk clutch.
Torque transmission assembly
A torque transmission assembly (20) for a drive system of a vehicle, includes a housing (26), an input-side friction surface arrangement which is coupled to the housing (26) for corotation around a rotational axis (A), an output-side friction surface arrangement which is coupled to a drive member (36) for corotation around the rotational axis (A) and a deflection mass arrangement (50) with a deflection mass carrier (52) and at least one deflection mass (54) supported at the deflection mass carrier (52) and which can be deflected from a basic relative position with respect to the deflection mass carrier (52). The torque transmission assembly (20) does not comprise a torsional vibration damper arrangement, and/or the deflection mass carrier (52) is connected to the housing (26) so as to be fixed with respect to rotation relative to the housing for corotation around the rotational axis (A).
ATTACHMENT OF ENGINE-CONNECTING LUG TO TORQUE CONVERTER COVER
A torque converter includes an impeller and a cover non-rotatably fixed to the impeller. The cover has opposing inner and outer surfaces and a through hole extending from the inner surface to the outer surface. A lug has a collar adjacent the outer surface, a shank extending from a first side of the collar, and a stem extending from a second side of the collar. The stem is disposed in the hole and attached to the cover by a connection.
Torque Converter Clutch System
A torque converter includes a front cover, an impeller having an outer shell non-rotatably connected to the front cover, and a turbine. A lock-up clutch is disposed axially between the front cover and the turbine. The lock-up clutch includes a piston axially displaceable and having a first opening extending from a first axial side facing the front cover to a second axial side facing the turbine. A seal ring is fixed to the front cover and sealed to the piston. A first fluid chamber is formed at least in part by the piston and the turbine, and a second fluid chamber is formed at least in part by the front cover, the seal ring, and the piston. A valve is connected to the piston and is configured to seal the first opening in response to a pressure difference in the first and second fluid chambers.

A housing for a torque converter comprising: an axis of rotation; a cover including: a first inner surface; a first outer surface opposite the first inner surface; a first axially extending necked portion radially outward relative to the axis of rotation and parallel to the axis of rotation, an impeller shell non-rotatably connected to the cover and having: a second inner surface; a second outer surface opposite the second inner surface; a second axially extending necked portion radially outward relative to the first axially extending necked portion; a line orthogonal to the axis of rotation passes through the first and second axially extending necked portions; and, a weld fixedly securing the first inner surface to the second inner surface at at least one point on the line. A torque converter including such a housing closure is also described.
