A vehicle travel control method and a vehicle travel control device carries out a downshift control of an automatic transmission when a vehicle speed increases from a set vehicle speed during a constant speed travel control by at least a first prescribed value. Subsequent downshift control of the automatic transmission is prohibited upon determining the vehicle speed has increased from the set vehicle speed by at least the first prescribed value due to an operation of an operating element by the driver during constant speed travel control. Downshift control of the automatic transmission is executed upon determining insufficient deceleration of the vehicle exists where the driver is not operating the accelerator pedal during prohibition of the downshift control.

The disclosure provides a vehicle and a method for controlling the vehicle. The vehicle includes: an engine; a transmission configured to transmit power from the engine to drive wheels; a deceleration factor detection device configured to detect a deceleration factor that is present ahead of the vehicle; and an electronic control unit configured to maintain a speed ratio of the transmission as a current speed ratio on condition that the deceleration factor is detected by the deceleration factor detection device, and change the speed ratio stepwise to a lower speed side than the current speed ratio and maintain the changed speed ratio, in response to a deceleration request from a driver.

Method and device for controlling a transmission of a vehicle

A method for controlling a transmission of a vehicle includes: determining whether a controller receives an acceleration pedal off signal corresponding to a lift foot up (LFU) shift request signal from an acceleration pedal sensor; determining whether an output signal value of a brake pedal sensor detecting a position value of a brake pedal is less than a brake reference value when the acceleration pedal off signal is received; determining whether a gear shifting progressing rate of the transmission performing a LFU shift in response to the LFU shift request signal is less than a progressing rate reference value when an output signal value of the brake pedal sensor is equal to or greater than the brake reference value; and controlling the transmission to hold the LFU shift when the gear shifting progressing rate of the transmission is less than the progressing rate reference value.

VEHICLE GEAR-SHIFTING CONTROL APPARATUS

A vehicle gear-shifting control apparatus is equipped with an engine, an automatic transmission, and a controller which changes a shift stage by outputting a gear-shifting signal in accordance with the rotation speed of an input shaft to the automatic transmission. The controller executes a torque-regulating control of temporarily increasing or decreasing an input torque input to the input shaft during a shift-change, and when executing the control, determines whether or not a target increase/decrease amount of the input torque can be realized based on calculation results of a target output torque and a target gear-shifting time, executes the control to realize the target amount when it is determined that the target amount can be realized, and executes the control based on an allowable gear-shifting time set in advance to be longer than the target gear-shifting time when it is determined that the target amount cannot be realized.

Thermal management of a vehicle transmission

A transmission is subject to thermal management to prevent damage or failure due to overheating. Sensors can be employed to capture characteristics of a transmission, such as fluid temperature or pressure. Further, a predictive model can be invoked to predict characteristics based on current and future conditions. Characteristics can be compared with a threshold for intervention. A thermal mitigation strategy can be generated and initiated when characteristics satisfy the threshold. The thermal mitigation strategy can specify various actions to dissipate heat, including altering shift control logic and triggering mechanical devices that can increase airflow, reduce air temperature, or both surrounding the transmission.
