Aerodynamic surgical light and boom systems

Disclosure herein are aerodynamic surgical lights and methods of manufacturing and use thereof. The aerodynamic surgical lights may include a light head made of one or more substantially tubular light housings. The substantially tubular light housings contain and protect a plurality of LED lights and their respective reflectors that aim a light beam toward the lower side of the substantially tubular light housings. The substantially tubular light housings are vertically elongate. The vertically elongated substantially tubular light housings include upper sections that are aerodynamically curved or pointed to streamline airflow past the light housings. The upper sections of the substantially tubular light housings are made of molded plastic resin reinforced with carbon fibers or glass fibers and the lower sections of the substantially tubular light housings are made of a clear moldable plastic.

A sterilizable cover for a handle of an accessory of a medical suspended ceiling assembly includes a generally tubular stem portion and an annular flange portion. The generally tubular stem portion has a sufficient size to be gripped by the human hand, and has a proximal end that is open and a distal end that is closed, and defines a cavity along a longitudinal axis for receipt therein of a handle grip portion. The generally tubular stem portion includes a friction fit portion that is configured to flex radially outwardly to create a friction fit with a portion of the handle grip portion upon receipt of the handle grip portion in the cavity of the generally tubular stem portion. The annular flange portion extends radially outwardly from a proximal end of the generally tubular stem portion. The generally tubular stem portion and the annular flange portion are a single continuous piece of flexible silicone rubber.

Surgical light having means for measuring distance

The invention relates to a surgical light comprising a light unit which has a plurality of light sources individually accommodated in a housing, wherein each light source is arranged and oriented in such a way that the light source produces a light beam in an energized state; an anchoring element which is prepared for fastening to a ceiling, a wall or a floor of a room; and a retaining arm system which connects the light unit slidably and/or pivotably to the anchoring element, wherein a position detection device is arranged and designed in such a way that, in the operating state, the position detection device determines a distance of a reference section of the light unit or of the retaining arm system from the ceiling.

LIGHTING ASSEMBLY AND LIGHT HEAD INCLUDING SAME

A lighting assembly includes a light transmissive substrate extending along a length and including a light emission portion including opposed first and second major surfaces spaced apart from one another in a thickness direction, an inner edge surface extending between the first and second major surfaces in the thickness direction, and an outer edge surface opposed the inner edge surface and extending in the thickness direction. An extension portion extends from the light emission portion proximate the second major surface in the thickness direction. A light source is attached to the extension portion. A light head includes a housing, a primary light source attached to the housing, and the lighting assembly as an auxiliary lighting assembly. The housing includes a channel in which the auxiliary lighting assembly is retained.

Light fixture with integral handle
11015788 · 2021-05-25 · ·

A light fixture having a housing and a handle formed integrally in the housing. In some embodiments, the handle is positioned at a center of gravity of the light fixture so as to facilitate carrying of the light fixture and/or to reduce stress on the carrier's hand.

Sterile barrier for surgical lightheads
10987188 · 2021-04-27 ·

An infection mitigation device providing a temporary, disposable sterile barrier between a sterile field and the non-sterile, light-emitting region of surgical lightheads. A surgical team member can easily apply and remove the protective barrier when needed. The device minimizes the opportunity for biohazardous materials from being transmitted between patients, thereby reducing the chance of infection, and ultimately providing patients with improved clinical outcomes. The center region of the barrier can be adapted to receive and/or cover (partially or completely) one or more types of centrally located surgical lighthead adjustment handles. The device can be manufactured with a unitary or composite construction. Depending on the specific composition of the barrier and application, a supportive carrier device may provide additional geometric stability for the barrier while it is maneuvered into its operational location on the lighthead. The device can be configured for compatibility will all surgical lightheads and non-OEM retrofit disposable handle systems.
