An apparatus for heating water has a tank for storing water and an air conditioning system that defines a refrigerant flow path through which refrigerant flows. The refrigerant flow path passes through a heat exchanger so that refrigerant heat is contributed to the tank. The heat exchanger houses a phase change material. A controller controls operation of the water heating apparatus.

Passive heat and mass transfer system

A heat and mass transfer system configured to be a passive system using gravitational force to form a thin liquid film flow on an outer surface of a flow distribution head and downstream conduit member to subject the thin liquid film to heat transfer mediums. The at least partially spherical flow distribution head creates a uniform thin flow of liquid on the outer surface increasing the efficiency of the heat and mass transfer system. The heat and mass transfer system may include a heat transfer medium supply system in fluid communication with internal aspects of the downstream conduit such that a heat transfer medium flows within the downstream conduit while the liquid film flows on the outer surface of the downstream conduit. Rather than conventional sheet flow on inner surfaces of a conduit, the flow distribution head enables sheet flow to be formed on an outside surface of a component.

Mixed refrigerant condenser outlet manifold separator

A system for condensing and phase separating a refrigerant fluid includes a condenser inlet header configured to receive a stream of refrigerant vapor. A condenser is in fluid communication with the condenser header and is configured to receive vapor and produce a mixed phase fluid stream. An elongated manifold separator including multiple mixed phase inlets is configured to separate mixed phase fluid received from the condenser. Resulting vapor and liquid streams exit vapor and liquid outlets of the manifold separator.

Modular refrigerant cap

A filter cap for a body of a refrigerant tank of an automotive HVAC device is provided. The filter cap includes a main body having a rim defining an opening for allowing flow of fluid such as refrigerant. A collar is snap-fit to the cap at the rim. In various embodiments, the collar has a flexible finger that flexes during assembly to the rim, and snaps back into position when fully pressed about the rim. The collar contains a filter membrane between the rim and the collar. The collar has an upper structure such as a plurality of spaced-apart legs. This allows the collar to protect the filter membrane from potential damaging contact while still enabling proper fluid flow through the filter membrane.

CONDENSER, AIR CONDITIONER OUTDOOR UNIT, AND AIR-CONDITIONING SYSTEM

A condenser, an air conditioner outdoor unit, and an air-conditioning system. The condenser includes at least one row of heat exchange tubes and a plurality of fins arranged along the heat exchange tubes, where any fin is provided with at least one column of through holes, which correspond to the number of rows of the heat exchange tubes, for the heat exchange tubes to pass through; the fins are evenly divided, in the width direction, into at least one basic unit corresponding to the number of rows of the heat exchange tubes; the width of any basic unit is greater than 18.2 mm; and the center distance between two adjacent through holes from among any column of through holes is less than 21 mm. As a result, the heat exchange efficiency can be improved, and the energy efficiency can also be improved.
