An array generating optical element is capable of receiving the primary beam of light and splitting the primary beam of light into a beam array. The beam array can include at least two distinct pattern beams that divergently extend from the array generating optical element at a non-zero angle relative to one another. A void region is formed between the at least two pattern beams, the void region being devoid of any portion of the primary beam.

SYSTEM AND METHOD OF PROVIDING A PROJECTILE MODULE HAVING A NET WITH A DRAWSTRING

A projectile cartridge that can be removably attached to a flying vehicle is disclosed. A system can include a first flying vehicle, a projectile attachment mechanism configured with the first flying vehicle, a projectile cartridge that contains a projectile, the projectile cartridge being removably attachable to the projectile attachment mechanism, a weight attached to the projectile, the weight being configured in a releasable configuration in the projectile cartridge and a drawstring configured with the projectile. After firing the projectile, when tension is applied to the drawstring as the projectile approaches or envelops a second flying vehicle, the tension can cause the drawstring to close the projectile down to secure the second flying vehicle.

AERIAL ARRESTING SYSTEM FOR UNMANNED AERIAL VEHICLE

A device launcher can be carried and be used to launch a device by an airborne UAV against an airborne or ground target. The target can be a moving target with the device configured to slow or disable the movement of the target. The device can be triggered manually or through an automated targeting system. The launch apparatus can be configured to launch a single device or a plurality of devices. The device launched against the target can be separated from the launch vehicle or tethered to the launch vehicle. The device can be a net that entangles the rotors of a rotor-driven vehicle. The device can include a parachute to retard movement of target vehicle whether it is falling or if it continues to move. A method of patrolling a perimeter with an airborne vehicle includes the steps of moving the airborne vehicle within the perimeter to sense unauthorized targets and launching a device against those sensed targets.

Projectile entangling device, cartridge and method

A projectile entangling device, cartridge and method for entangling an object. The projectile entangling device comprises a bolt slidably engaging within a receiver. A barrel is coupled to the receiver and is adjacent to a chamber. A gas conduit couples a compressed gas container to the bolt. A valve is positioned within the gas conduit. A trigger activates the valve and dispensing a compressed gas from the compressed gas container, through the gas conduit and exits the bolt. A first projectile and a second projectile are positioned within the cartridge. A tether is coupled to the first projectile and the second projectile. The first projectile, the second projectile and the tether are propelled from the cartridge and expelled from the barrel upon the compressed gas exiting the bolt. The tether elongates for distancing the first projectile from the second projectile for defining an expanding projectile and entangling with the object.

Systems, devices, and methods for identifying a target aerial vehicle, deploying an interceptor aerial vehicle comprising at least one effector, maneuvering the interceptor aerial vehicle to a position to engage a target aerial vehicle, deploying the at least one effector to intercept the target aerial vehicle, and confirming that the target aerial vehicle has been intercepted.

System for countering an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)

The present invention describes an air-burst projectile (100) and a system (200) for deploying the airburst projectile to counter an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) 10. Each airburst projectile includes one or more spinners (140, 140a-140d); each spinner has a sleeve or a tube (146), a number of radial partition plates (148, 148a-148d) extending from the sleeve/tube and an annular rear plate (144) connected to the sleeve. Adjacent partition plates thus form a compartment (150). Disposed in each compartment is a streamer or streamers (170,170a,170b), which are formed in a coiled-up state. When the airburst projectile is deployed into a flight path of a target UAV, the spinners (140, 140a-140d) are ejected and the streamers (170,170a,170b) are dispersed in the flight path to create a streamer cloud, so that a streamer may entangle with propellers of the UAV and bring down the UAV, or as a warning or fence marking shot.

SYSTEM AND METHOD OF MANAGING A PLURALITY OF PROJECTILE MODULES ON A FLYING DEVICE

A flying vehicle is disclosed with a plurality of projectile systems that each contains a projectile for projecting at another flying device. The flying vehicle can include a control system, a flight system in communication with the control system for enabling the flying vehicle to fly, a first projectile system in communication with the control system and a second projectile system in communication with the control system. The control system determines, based on a characteristic of a target flying vehicle, whether to implement a first mode utilizing the first projectile system or a second mode utilizing the second projectile system to capture the target flying vehicle.
