TECHNIQUES SUITABLE FOR USE WITH AN OBJECT FOR MOVING THROUGH A FLUID, SUCH AS A MUNITION OR RECONNAISSANCE PROJECTILE

According to a first aspect of the invention, there is provided an object for moving through a fluid, the object comprising: an outer housing, arranged to be exposed to a hydrostatic pressure exerted by the fluid; a strain gauge, arranged to obtain an indication of the hydrostatic pressure, wherein a first part of the strain gauge is arranged to be in contact with the outer housing, such that the strain gauge is arranged to obtain an indication of the hydrostatic pressure by obtaining an indication of the strain on the housing.

Tail portion for fin-stabilized projectile

A tail portion for a fin-stabilized projectile includes at least two deployable fins, which are inclined. The fins are arranged in at least two sections, which are arranged adjacent to another in the axial direction.

A concatenated annular swing-wing tandem lift enhancer (CASTLE) is provided for augmenting aeronautical lift to a canister-launched missile. The CASTLE includes fore and aft housing sections and pluralities of mainstays, airfoils, wing grapples and tension supports. The fore and aft housing sections are disposed circumferentially around the missile along a longitudinal axis of symmetry. The front and rear mainstays are disposed angularly along each housing section. The airfoils stowed circumferentially around each the housing section. Each airfoil has an outer camber surface and an inner arc surface that provides leading and trailing edges ending at port and starboard tips. The wing grapples disposed on the inner arc surface. The supports connect the mainstays with corresponding the grapples such that the airfoils deploy radially outward and swing such that each leading edge faces forward in relation to the longitudinal axis. The supports can be flexible lanyards or else rigid struts.

Fuze arming techniques for a submunition

According to an aspect of the invention, there is provided a fuze arming system for a submunition, comprising: a first stage, arranged to detect launch of the submunition and its associated carrier; a second stage, arranged to detect expulsion of the submunition from the carrier, and to at least partially arm a submunition fuze based on such detection; wherein the second stage is unable to at least partially arm the submunition fuze without the first stage detecting launch of the submunition and its associated carrier.

Long range large caliber frangible round for defending against UAV'S

The present invention is directed to a projectile configured to provide a submunition payload across a wide impact pattern, similar to that of a shotgun, at a range typically beyond the capability of standard shotgun rounds. The additional range is provided in some embodiments of the invention by allowing the tailoring deployment range of the submunition payload based upon a given threat.
